Question[edit]

My girlfriend is from savoie region in france and she says that she has eaten fera within the last ten years. She also says that this is quite common and she showed me some websites with recipes for fera. What is going on here? is this like that crab that is actually crab flavoured haddock? or is there a family of fish, one of which is extinct, that are all calld fera? think it could be good for the article.--Matt D 23:28, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

there are some regions in Switzerland or in France where are several fish species from the genus Coregonus which are locally named as fera. But according to Maurice Kottelat the real fera (Coregonus fera) was endemic to Lake Geneva. --Melly42 01:23, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was probably something like that. Thanks for clearing that up.--Matt D 17:45, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
