Features not new to Windows XP

• Support for ACPI existed in Windows 2000 (including sleep, hibernate, etc.)
• The interface enhancements in Windows Me came from Windows 2000 development (even though Me was released first).
• Support for WinSxS existed in Windows 2000.

I recall Standby and Hibernate being in Windows Me, and I'm pretty sure that Standby was in Windows 98. Also, Windows 2000 was released first out of Windows 2000 (February 2000) and Windows Me (September 2000), despite having a slightly higher version number. --Evice 19:30, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Improper comparisions to other O.S.-es

In this article, most Windows XP's features are compared with Windows 98 and Me's features. Although 98 and Me were predecessors to Windows XP in terms of marketing positions (Home usage market etc.), from technological view XP and 98-Me operating systems have very little in common. Windows XP is a direct derivative of Windows 2000. As far as I know, XP is just a slight polish-up of Windows 2000. In my opinion, Windows XP should ONLY be compared to Windows 2000. By comparing XP to Me and 98, it makes it look very advanced and superb, and someone may think that Windows XP was a milestone product, but (as two other wikis said above), most of XP's features were already present in Windows 2000. --Nihad Hamzic 14:37, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

As you said earlier in this post, this is primarily in comparison of the Home market and doesn't necessarily apply to the business side of the OS market. Even so, an improvement on it's differences from Win2K would be a good idea. Chris (Talk) (Contribs) 02:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I totally agree with nihad, comparisons should be made with the predecessor w2k, and not older systems. that's the way you keep a changelog, and it makes sense.--Trickstar (talk) 11:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

By any standard, the sheer number of new features doesn't make XP seem like "just a slight polish-up of Windows 2000" to me. - xpclient ^Talk 10:04, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Windows XP themes

Shouldn't there be mention of Windows XP's new themes and visual style in this article? Perhaps it wouldn't be seen as a new feature, but I think that the new visual interface is a big enough change that there should be at least some reference to it.
