In the 60s, Righetti's main rivalry was with cross-town Santa Maria High School. St. Joseph's wasn't built until a few years after Righetti and because it was a Catholic school and Righetti was public, Righetti didn't compete in the same sports leagues with St. Joseph's. So there wasn't any meaningful rivalry or even much interaction between the student bodies of the two schools in those days. Has that changed? Do Righetti and St. Joseph's now compete? I'd like to introduce mention of the traditional rivalry between Righetti and Santa Maria HS but before I do, I'd like to know how things have changed.
