Direct external links in body of article[edit]

It's generally not a good idea to make direct external links to books in the body of the article.

  1. External links should have proper {{cite book}} parameters including publisher and date.
  2. Links of book titles should be limited to wikilinks to other articles, it is confusing to have a mix of external and wikilinks in a list books.
  3. Picking and choosing a specific edition/scan of a book limits choice for readers. The archives are continually adding new scans/editions and readers should be able to choose which one they want to read.
  4. Removing the general link to the archive removes the possibility of new books being added to the archives.
