NPOV and reliable source[edit]

I've removed the text "one of the most" influential... Yes, Mr. Reiss is influential, but source is missing and the claim is POV. Please observe verifiability and NPOV when doing boigraphies on living persons. --83.93.89.200 14:18, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article tags[edit]

After 3 years, this article doesn't have anything approaching proper references. If it doesn't get them soon, I'm going to propose deletion, for lack of notability.

Also, it's apparent that whoever is maintaining this article isn't conversant with the manual of style; the article is inconsistent with the standards for a well-written article. In particular, external links shouldn't be embedded in the text of the article, see WP:EL, and neither should ISBNs. Studerby (talk) 19:04, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from article subject[edit]

To Whom it May Concern:

As I am the subject of this article, which is scheduled to be deleted this coming Sunday, I would like to add a few parting words to this conversation before Wikipedia frees up some much-needed server space.

There are contributors, including those who want to delete this article, who despite their insistance on proper citations, simultaneously put words in my mouth, such as "Reiss openly claims..." or "Reiss thinks he is..." This article has been widely quoted in the biographical materials published by the organizers of conferences at which I have spoken. But that is not the same as me having claimed anything. I would be curious to learn where I allegedly made these arrogant comments or how the authors know what I may or may not think. The comments given by the person instigating the deletion, stating that I "lag far behind in notability of others in the community" or words to that effect, are curiously judgemental, yet do not seem to affect any of the Wikipedia pages for other authors and educators within the UX community. I wonder what I did to this person to deserve his or her special attention.

Anyway, thanks to the dozens of people who have edited and contributed to this article over the years. I am truly touched that you thought me interesting enough to write about and took the time to do so.

I've just removed the "thinks he is" phrasing for the second time, and the "lags far behind" commentary, as they are unsourced, unencyclopedic, and unacceptable. If these problems continue (if the article remains on Wikipedia) then I'll take steps to try to make it more difficult for such material to be added. Incidentally, the deletion of the article won't free up any server space, since its history and old versions would be retained anyway. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:04, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
