If anyone ever wants to work on this article[edit]

Here are some things to get you started: 1. The purpose of podiatry, Purpose of shoes, argument for/against "barefoot" horses, for/against shoes. 2. Horse podiatry, Donkey Podiatry 3. Club foot, Founder, Lameness, etc. & what equine podiatry can do to correct these (IE. club food corrected w/ floating toe type trim) 3.1 shoes, specialized shoes, etc. 4. Link to article about the equine foot or discuss the equine foot here? Carsinmotion (talk) 07:51, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Narrowing of an established term/NPOV[edit]

Podiatry encompasses more than barefoot management. The podiatry center at North Carolina State University Veterinary school, Rood and Riddle Podiatry Center, the International Equine Podiatry Center, the Rocky Mountain Equine Podiatry Center,Northern Virginia Equine Podiatry, the Reata Equine Hospital podiatry center, and others all combine veterinary and farrier care in ways that often involve shoes. And the book with this name, for example, goes in to great detail on hoof care. And, yes, shoes:

  • Floyd, Andrea E (2007). Equine Podiatry. Saunders. ISBN 978-0721603834. {{cite book}}: Cite has empty unknown parameter: |1= (help)

This page needs to have a broader definition. A statement something like: "A recent movement by a group called The Equine Podiatry Association in the UK emphasizes a barefoot-only approach to hoof care" seems appropriate, referenced in the text.--Getwood (talk) 07:52, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article is a disgrace[edit]

I am beginning to regret removing the deletion tag from this article. Most of it consists of pure spam, and every edit that is made to it seems to make it worse. I don't know enough about the subject to improve the article, but if nobody else does in the next few days, which means making the article actually about equine podiatry and not about the "International" Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry or K. C. La Pierre or the Equine Podiatry Association, I will cut it back to the first and last sentences, which currently seem to be the only ones worth keeping. Frankly, I am not particularly familiar with it either, I spend what little time I have over on the horseshoe, hoof and farrier articles. Do what you want here. Montanabw(talk) 23:43, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
