Untitled[edit]

Here it is, please pitch in and expand the page. Designline is an interesting and innovative manufacturer and a resouirce here would be helpful. I think this page should exist. Here's some discussion on the subject copied from the wiki project New Zealand page: Nankai 02:35, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Designline - When/why deleted?[edit]

I just noticed that Designline, a significant NZ company, has had it's article deleted at some point since December. I can't find any reference to it being deleted. Anyone know what happened? --Lee Begg 04:03, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, just looking up the deletion log, I note that it has been deleted twice (delete log). The first appears to be deleted as "nonnotable corporate spam", and the second doesn't give any reason at all. Now I don't remember much about the article, except that I know that Designline has made a large number of buses in NZ, and exported a lot too. They are certainly notable in Transport in NZ. Does WikiProject NZ have guide lines on the Notability of Companies? --Lee Begg 04:10, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Has it has several non-trival mentions in the media? In that case it probably can have an article. Mathmo Talk 05:34, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The second deletion was probably because the article consisted of three short paragraphs with no source. The first deletion, however, was of a reasonably substantial article with no blatant POV or advertising problems, although the only sources mentioned were the company's website and a print version of one of their press releases. If anyone wants to work on providing better sources for the article, I'll undelete the first version and put it in their user space so it can be improved before being moved back to article space.-gadfium 08:45, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure the Chrischurch Press had one or more feature articles in 1998-99 covering the design of the Olymbus (fleet of buses for the Sydney Olympics - designed by David Thornley, who I knew back then) and the diesel-electric hybrid buses on the Christchurch inner city shuttle service. Probably too early for archivestuff, but if any Wikipedians happen to be digging around in the newspaper archive at Canty publicc Library, a check would be appreciated. (Library staff index the Press each day - not sure if it is on computer yet). dramatic 11:00, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Better yet, a search of the ashburton guardian will yield a bazillion storiest [1]. It's certainly notable enough. --Limegreen 02:53, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, there were several mentions of Designline in the Japanese media during the first demonstration of their "OLlymbus" in November 2000 using Christchurch buses, and later when the "Mk-2" model entered service in Tokyo in August 2003. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.158.25.79 (talk) 14:41, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion of the article[edit]

Nice work expanding the article.

It would be good to include some figures about the number of buses produced by the company per week. The original article said about 5 buses were produced per week with plans to increase this to 15, but no source was given.

Is it still true that most buses built at Designline are based on the MAN 12.223 and the MAN 17.223 chassis? I would guess not since our article on MAN doesn't mention those models. Also, there could be mention of the changes in bus design over the years, particularly the introduction of the low floor models in 1996.-gadfium 18:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citation needed tag for the UK market[edit]

I don't know about the rest of the UK, but Stagecoach North East operate 10 designline Olymbuses on the Quaylink routes [2] MickMacNee (talk) 16:54, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Banff?[edit]

Why does it say under the section Hybrid Buses,"Banff is now the only 100% hybrid transit fleet in North America" Banff? -Herenthere 23:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article refers to fleets that have been withdrawn, but not when those cities started with DesignLine buses. There is also inconsistency with Baltimore - does it still have these buses or not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 08:19, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

American Interests?[edit]

American Interests? "It was acquired by American interests in 2006, and DesignLine Corporations' headquarters was relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina." Like who, what and where?--Wikipietime (talk) 00:10, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
