Is this article a good idea?[edit]

I believe it defines a term commonly assumed to be understood by biochemists and chemists somewhat more rigorously, and I'm sure I'll find the rigorous definition somewhere in the literature (if I don't, of course, we cannot include it). It's not quite a WP:DICDEF, though I wouldn't mind merging it into chemical energy, say.

Full disclosure:

  • I'm writing this mainly because some people apply the term to oxygen (that's ordinary dioxygen in the triplet state). One of them has modified many articles on Wikipedia to state his views as fact.
  • so far, the article's written in "state something, then find references for it" fashion. That's hardly ideal.
