Contesting Proposed Deletion[edit]

Hi. I object to this article's proposed deletion. My grounds are that as a stage-partner of the great Jimmy James, Eli Woods was for many years an indespensible part of a very famous UK music-hall act, and therefore is an important figure in the history and tradition of British stage comedy.

The article as it stands is, of course, disappointing -- a measure, perhaps, of the way that the tradition which Woods represents does not as yet have much of a 'web presence' and is completely unknown to editors and contributors in the USA. I have removed the {{prod}} because he's clearly notable and, as Pfistermeister says, references are hard to come by on the web. This one shows notability: http://books.google.com/books?id=indZAAAAMAAJ&q="Eli+Woods"&dq="Eli+Woods"&lr=&as_brr=0&ei=RpgCSqqAGpWWkATwk-X9DQ&pgis=1 -- The displayed exerpt says (from the Google search exerpt): "Pete Postlethwaite (screwing with both pig detector Paterson's head and his wife) is painfully callous and there are even cameos from the likes of Eli Woods ..."

Re the 1982 Royal Variety Show and further to my edit I note that James Casey is credited with playing Jimmy James (his father) in that show in the article on James Casey Spinney Hill (talk) 15:33, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
