Expansion[edit]

I've tried to expand significantly on the stub. However, the content I've provided is obviously tainted by my own experiences - some input from others in the industry, particular from equities, commodities or FX would be good. --Jack 18:08, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Electronic trading vs Etrading[edit]

I can't recall hearing any traders or exchange officials refer to electronic trading as "etrading" in the last few years.

First stock market?[edit]

The final statement "NASDAQ, set up in 1971, was the world's first stock market" can't possibly be correct, right? There have been stock markets of the more-or-less modern model since the 17th century. Does the author mean "first wholly electronic stock market", or something like that?

I understand that at least the "electronic" word is missing on the last statement. According to NASDAQ's article, it was more like an bulletin board system.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 09:16, 25 April 2006 (talk) 65.197.203.67

Merge proposal Electronic trading with ETrading[edit]

Suggest merging with ETrading—Preceding unsigned comment added by 0:58, 23 May 2007 (talk) 205.228.73.11

Absolutely agree. Looks like the second was created without knowledge of the first. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 16:17, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. Should merge ETrading and ETrading Platforms to here. Thye all need references and cleaning up. Smallbones (talk) 19:00, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Speedy Agree....Per above--Hu12 (talk) 19:03, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now merged and ready for you all to clean it up. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 05:04, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if this helps but I found a great article on electronic trading here: [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Courses-Marketing (talkcontribs) 11:32, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Expert Advisors[edit]

Does an Expert Advisors section belong in Electronic trading or in Algorithmic trading? --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 07:40, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neither. I did some web searching - probably not encyclopedic. Let's remove it. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 07:53, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal with Electronic communication network[edit]

There was a suggestion to merge this article with Electronic communication network dated 2009.

Disagree, ECNs are very specific systems and have unique properties and history compared to more general forms of electronic trading which can take many different forms. As there appears to have been no discussion or further justification of the merge proposal for 3 years I have removed the tag for now. Sargdub (talk) 05:18, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
