Merger discussion[edit]

I propose that we merge Hyldemoer into this page. It is a stub and "Elder Mother" already includes it within its scope, referring to "Elder Mother" as a general term for this type of being in English and Scandinavian folklore. Ingwina (talk) 08:02, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translation into modern English[edit]

Some of the parts of this article seem to be in some archaic form of English, which likely isn't comprehensible to modern readers. eg:

"It were all along of my maister’s thick ‘ead. It were in this ‘ow't’ rocker comed off t'cradle, and he hadn’t no more gumption than to mak’ a new ‘un out on illerwood (elder wood) without axing the Old Lady’s leave, and in course she didn’t like that, and she came and pinched the wean that outrageous he were a’most black in t’ face; but I bashed un off, and putten an eshen on, and the wean is gallus as owt agin."

Individual words and fragments of that are understandable to modern readers, but not much more. :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.121.72.104 (talk) 19:30, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
