Notability[edit]

The fact that this was Nixon's favorite restaurant does not guarantee notability. Please find coverage in reliable sources and improve the article instead of knee jerk removing the tag. I'm trying to help improve these really crappy restaurant articles, some of which are not about notable places. The ones that appear to be are appropriately tagged. Thanks.Griswaldo (talk) 01:04, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You gotta be kidding on the notability thing. The restaurant is comprised of two adobes which are state historic landmarks. That alone is enough notability. I don't know how much you know about the history of California, but ANY existing building in the state built in 1797 is notable. Moreover, it was frequented by Nixon and was his favorite restaurant (as noted in a national magazine ALREADY CITED). The DAR Magazine in 1978 referred to it as a "famous" restaurant. A google book search for the terms "el adobe" and "san juan capistrano" returned 240 results. I'm removing the tag. It certainly could use more sourcing and other work but it is evidently notable. Great that covers it. I don't know why people get offended by these tags. The point is that those who are not in the know need to have good content presented with reliable sources. That's all. Thanks for your help.Griswaldo (talk) 01:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
