Some Date Corrections[edit]

According to Ancestry.com (citing U.S. Civil War Soldiers Records and Profiles), there are some date discrepancies in this article, as follows:

  • Birthdate is 29 May 1828 (not 1826)
  • Commissioned on 19 April 1861 (not 18 April)
  • Promoted to full Colonel on 24 October 1862 (not 22 February)

Also, according to the Historical Register of the United States Army, ed. F.B. Heitman, 1890, there are some important dates that were omitted from the article:

  • Honorably mustered out of service on 6 June 1864 at New York, NY
  • Promoted to brevet brigadier-general of volunteers for gallantry and meritorious service during the war on 13 March 1865
