Healthy Habits for Life[edit]

User: Thargor Orlando just added a new section here; in his edit summary, he cited a recent (April) AfD in which it was suggested that the content be merged in Sesame Street. Instead, the content was merged here. I don't think that it belongs here, since it's one of many programs the Sesame Workshop conducts. I think it better belongs in the SW article, although there can be arguments against that as well. If we were to put every program the SW conducts, these articles would be too long and unwieldy. Some of the content could go in Cookie Monster, and some of it could go in Influence of Sesame Street. In other words, I think that instead of warranting its own section, I think that content could be included in various articles across Wikipedia. I can work on that if you would like. I have no issues with sending it to SW or SS or anywhere else. I picked what I felt was the best target given the structure of the Sesame Street article, and have no significant opinions as to how we should distribute the information. Please note, however, that the Veggie Monster redirect currently goes to the section in this article, so wherever you put that information, fix the redirects as well. Is there a possibility of a new article for SW educational outreach initiatives? The military program "Talk, Listen, Connect" (three videos, three specials, USO stage show), the two videos for "Little Children, Big Challenges", and briefer things like "Sesame Street Explores National Parks" and "Lead Away!"? Maybe even a sortable table of productions? -- Zanimum (talk) 16:20, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
TO, I'll go ahead and work on incorporating the info here into other articles in the next several days. Zan, on my to-do list is to improve the SW article, something I've put off but probably won't be able to much longer. Now that the Wikicup is over for me, I have more incentive to do it, plus I have more access to the library than I have had all summer. I think that part of the SW article should be a list of productions like the ones you list and more. Improving SW is potentially a huge project, one on par with improving SS. There's more research that needs to be done, and sources to be found other than the ones we already have available. I can foresee lots of subarticles being created, like what happened with the SS article; i.e., an article on the SW's outreach projects, since there is information available about their history and genesis. This topic was never addressed, and although with formatting problems it's well-sourced, the information in this section is out-of-date. As a result, I'm removing it. I don't think it's a good idea to describe every initiative the SW has ever done. At the very least, it's impractical because the information simply isn't available. I think it's enough to state that the SW conducts these initiatives, and that it's part of their educational goals. I also think only discussing the Healthy Habits initiative violates WP:UNDUE.
