By the way, am I the only one wierded out that Education in the People's Republic of Poland is such a better article than this one? Surely our Polish contributors (and their do seem to be many of you, Piotrus, for example) could bring this up to scratch?--naryathegreat | (talk) 01:20, August 8, 2005 (UTC)

I think that someone should translate Polish article about it (pl:System oświaty w Polsce) and combine it with this article to create bigger and better one. It would also be nice to see a table like the one in Education in Sweden. 83.23.118.99 18:45, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Education in the Commonwealth

Is it the right place to write something on the education in Polish- Lithuanian state prior to the Enlightenment? I mean mainly renaissance and baroque schools, but medieval phenomena are also worth a mention. Kameal (talk) 19:14, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

History of education in Poland (and the Commonwealth, which was one of past Polish statehoods) is a subtopic of this article. If it gets too long, it should be split off. What is "one year of formal education

Article raises many many unanswered questions

Article says "The law requires that children complete one year of formal education before entering 1st grade and do so by age 7." What is meant by "formal education". Does this refer to kindergarten? What is the curriculum. What kind of pre-school education is there? Also, does this mean that academic subjects begin at age 7? How long is the academic day? How many in the classes?School lunches, who pays for them?

The article says that children in 6th grade are 13 years old. In the USA children in 6th grade are typically 11 years old. Why is this? What about tuition? Just how many languages do school children take, one or two?

Poland evidently has ability tracking. What happens to children in lower tracks? Are they subject to PISA?

Update!

From what I've seen, this article needs to be updated to match the current government's changes (back to 7-year-old first grade, and elimination of the gimnazjum). Also, I'd advise writers to refrain from _translating_ terms like liceum and gimnazjum to high school and junior high or middle school, as these terms are specifically American (and Canadian?) and yet not uniform in meaning across the US. I will try to get to doing the necessary reference search before editing this myself, but at the moment I don't have the time.

Zerówka (0) -> Przedszkole -> Kindergarten

"Zerówka"/Class zero is the colloquial term for "Przedszkole", which is nothing but just a Kindergarten. Gdominik100 (talk) 01:36, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
