Why is this the default page for this title?[edit]

Okay, so I understand that there are three different articles that relate to the words "Edmund Fitzgerald". However, according to WP:D, if there is a clear primary topic, it should be the one that gets the default title page (or redirect). In this case, I would think that most people who are looking for the words "Edmund Fitzgerald" would be looking for the ship. The majority of people looking for the song would search for "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", and very few will be searching for an obscure (and defunct) math rock band. Therefore, I would propose that the following be done:

  1. Eliminate the redirect at Edmund Fitzgerald (disambiguation), and move this page's content there
  2. Change this page to a redirect to SS Edmund Fitzgerald
  3. Add an otheruses template line to the SS Edmund Fitzgerald article header (my inclination would be to use {{Redirect6}}, with a link to the song, since that's the second-most-likely intended target)

If no one has any objections, I will do this within the next few days. EJSawyer (talk) 18:52, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was anticipating doing the work (except for the initial deletion) myself, but I see that Frank did the whole transaction. Thanks Frank! EJSawyer (talk) 19:25, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. These "non-controversial" moves that show up in CSD are nevertheless complicated, in my view...by the time I go to the trouble to figure out what is being requested, I have multiple pages open and a map drawn out in my head, so it seems silly to me to not just go ahead and do it all and make sure it's either correct...or looks like what I thought was being requested.  Frank  |  talk  20:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
