Is the GDP and GDP per capita really correct? Not according to the article about GDP in different countries! Which one is wrong?

It was wrong, but i've corrected with right figures from CIA Factbook --BlueEyedCat 14:01, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

This article needs to be reformatted into smaller sections that would later be expanded. I'm going to add in a "History" section together with "Foreign trade" section. AucamanTalk 20:39, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Current status

The information under Current status seeem a little old. Can anyone update them? AucamanTalk 20:59, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Citation?

  • If successful, this attempt to rebalance trading relationships in the world economy may trigger a series of far reaching consequences such as collapse of the US$, knock on effects in the world market, recession or an even economic depression. A few observers, especially among peak oil production theorists who believe that an oil crisis is imminent, argue that there is a potential for a resource war with the United States of America over the flow of both dollars and oil. Others, including military leaders and peak oil theorists who believe that a crisis is further off, argue that the results of war game scenarios cast doubt on the argument that a war is the most likely result of the Oil Bourse.

Oh come on. Unless we get definite citations, there is no way we can use that.

  • As it currently stands, all ministries, banks, academic centers, and businesses in Iran extensively use illegal pirated software. Iranian publishers reproduce books, films, and music from the west with no regard for intellectual property rights, and Iran's national TV broadcasters, IRIB, routinely screen Hollywood film productions without any permission from the respective ownership.

That we need citation on as well.

Question

What was the GDP of each province of Iran in 1980? thanks

lead

SSZ, please read wp:lead, I am not sure why you have added the full article 44 in the lead in the first place, but it does not belong there. The lead must contain a concise overview of the Economy of Iran, not article 44 in the constitution:

The lead should be capable of standing alone as a concise overview of the article, establishing context, explaining why the subject is interesting or notable, and briefly describing its notable controversies, if there are any. It should be between one and four paragraphs long, should be carefully sourced as appropriate, and should be written in a clear and accessible style so that the reader is encouraged to read the rest of the article. Small details that appear in the full article should be avoided in favor of a very brief overview of the article.

--Gerash77 21:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Respectfully, this is your opinion, not mine. I think the article "as is" perfectly reflects this point of view already (wp: lead). I think this introduction should contain a general description of the structure of the economy of Iran, plus information about inflation and unemployement levels and the summary table on the right side (as it is now). It is all appropriate and relevant to be in the introduction of the article. I still/really don't understand what bothers you here. I already said before that you can create a separate article about privatization in Iran, (which would be usefull) and I will be happy to transfer information and contribute to it. We can also provide a link to it. Please note the present article is about a general overview of the Iranian economy. The different sectors, the privatization and the diversification are also clearly mentionned in the main article already, as you know.
Also, you have added comments/details regarding privatization that would belong to the article that I propose you to create, plus many others usefull information that we can add like the list of the candidates, those companies who are in the process of being privatized, plus many sector specific information relating to the same issue. In fact, I saw in your edition history that you created such article before re-directing it to the main article (if I am not mistaken). Again, I read wp:lead and I must maintain my position in this regard.SSZ 22:02, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, I see you changed it again in the main artcile. I don't see much difference with the original version now, except some comments like protection of ownership rights and encouragement to privatize. Please note that the right to private ownership by itself is already protected in the Iranian Constitution (if I am not mistaken). regrading the new encouragement to privatize, you will see that it has been like that for 2 decades already (mentionned briefly in the history section already) and I had to removed some of it early on because it was so repetitive and more like news (see WP:not). Best, SSZ 22:17, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

The lead was too long and not a concise overview of the article as per wiki policy. That is what 'bothering' me. Once we come to an agreement regarding the lead, we can talk about another article. --Gerash77 22:21, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I already got that part (& you keep repeating yourself). You did not respond specifically to any of my points above.SSZ 02:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

based on the note left in your last edit summary, it seems that you didn't notice that I didn't remove the article 44. The lead as stood before was in nonconformity with guidelines, and as it currently stands is not a concise overview. Please re-read wp:lead, specially the part about Bold title, which is why i put a cleanup tag for you to do that yourself, as you seem to be unhappy about my attempts.--Gerash77 01:13, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

No, I was referring to something minor: the mention of the word tourism had disappeared (inadvertently) in the "macro-economic trend" section after your edits. For the rest, I will see what I can do tomorrow about this part of the article to make you happy (& please feel free to bold the title yourself! :-)SSZ 02:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Now that what I call a lead! As messy as Iran's economy itself. I don't mind if you leave it like that!--Gerash77 02:48, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
You are taking too much time, so I re-sectioned the lead. Don't forget to bold the title --Gerash77 21:16, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
From what I can read above, I don't think Gerash cares about the economy of Iran.
