Some general additions[edit]

to the article in a time line of events more or less...with some information to the topic. It probably is not a stub any more but could use some major additions and further editing and direction. Maybe this article could be renamed World economic history and growth to avoid confusion with other similar articles titles or History of growth and economics skip sievert (talk) 18:23, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think Economic history of the world is an appropriate title, in line with History of the world and Economic history of [country]. Very good that expanded this article! Incredible that it hasn't been created before. You could have a look at the headlines at Swedish Wikipedia to see how we have structured the article there. Give a link here to it. I am going to make the G.D.P. chart smaller again... it is way to big for the article as is... it looks a little weird big or small, so that is really not an issue. We can compromise on the picture... I put it at 300 pix. skip sievert (talk) 02:37, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of the world economy[edit]

I'm trying to restructure the article along someething like the following timeline - prehistory, bronze age, classical age, dark ages, medieveval, early modern, late modern/industrual revolution, 20th century. Something like that.Mcsony (talk) 17:52, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Off Topic Sections[edit]

The last sections (economic theory/energy accounting etc) looks to be off topic. I'll try and work it in or move it to an appropriate home.Mcsony (talk) 22:58, 26 January 2011 (UTC) Also a lot which is history of finance. I'll try and work that in if I can. Working to fill in sections[edit]

I'm throwing in a lot of new stuff before I find citations - I see these are being deleted mostly for good reasons. There are two problems here, one is evidence (citation) and the other is scope. I will work on adding citations as soon as possible for existing stuff, and I will only re-introduce deleted items if I can find citations. (Mcsony (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

My language is poor and clumsy, so improvements to arragement and flow is much appriciated, espcecially if you can make my words more concise and crisp. (Mcsony (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Scope of the article[edit]

We need to agree the scope of what is and isn't economic activity. I take the view that regardless of whether a scarce resource is traded, the production and consumption of the resource is still an economic activity. This is not a history purely of commerce, trade or finance. (Mcsony (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Maddison[edit]

We should put up a nice chart of the Angus Maddison data from www.worldeconomy.org. If you don't know what I mean here's an ugly chart of it: http://tumblr.com/xp1a6bpde Crasshopper (talk) 04:55, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updating Section on Industrial Revolution[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way in which the Industrial Revolution section of this article could have some more content added to it so it can be tied into the overall discussion of the page better? (Perhaps through the information of inventions of certain machines that helped economies grow during that period of time due to efficiency) Clairejking (talk) 17:01, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That would be excellent, there is some useful material in the Industrial Revolution article. Jonpatterns (talk) 17:09, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

I think this article could use an image.

How about a photo of an old coin?
