PayPal[edit]
Is pay pal actually e-cash, or does it just process credit card transactions?
- PayPal does more than just credit cards; I fund my PayPal account from my bank account. I'm not sure if it counts as e-cash, though, as all amounts are held in a national currency. Jobarts-Talk 12:53, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Anonymous Ecash[edit]
What would the ramifications be if there were a cryptographically backed Ecash system that held payer and payee untraceable to each other, to remote observers, and even to the issuing bank itself? Is this anything anyone has done or tried yet?
I only say because I think I may have stumbled upon a tech solution that would allow exactly that. I'm putting out a request for comments.

- Yes this was done by David Chaum. In cryptography e-cash is quasi synonymous with anonymous e-cash which looks a lot like what you are suggesting. I will try to rewrite the entry to provide more information about anonymous e-cash, and will remove PayPal, as it is an electronic payment solution that has not too much to do with e-cash as such. --Markulf 09:50, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

How did it actually work?[edit]
As far as I can see, the article explains insufficiently how the system worked. "eCash software on the user's local computer stored money in a digital format, cryptographically signed by a bank." - ok, and how did the money get in there? Was it obtained with the software as such? How could the customer refill his account? --KnightMove (talk) 20:11, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
