Inappropriate page blanking/redirect

There has been no discussion regarding any action to delete/redirect this page. An AfD that was opened to delete 2014 Ebola virus cases in the United States was closed as "Keep." The content can be merged. Just as my redirects were undiscussed, so to were your creations of these inappropriate side articles. We don't need 6 articles to cover what was easily covered in one article just days ago. Possible circulation in humans

I shortened the citation in the Virology section "...She added that it might have circulated in some combination of bats, apes or other forest animals, “or it could have been circulating in humans for 10 years with little or no notice.”..." to

"...She added that it might have circulated in some combination of bats, apes or other forest animals.”..."

That Ebola could have circulated in humans for a long time is a severe statement, that could have a huge impact on the actions during the current epidemic. It might cause constant exclusion of previous Ebola patients, or there friends and relatives. I doubt that Pardis Sabeti, thought of this possibility, when she spoke to the New York Times reporter.

Yeas, it could be, but many things could be. It is one think to speculate in a personal environment. Even News Papers speculate. But to do this in Wikipedia Article at least requires a broad consensus under the editors.

As there where not discussions in the talk page in this article, and as a interview in a news paper is not a reliable source regarding complex topics of virology, I removed this part of the citation.

Near to no Guinea specific content

This article was created 29 September and it has still less content then the corresponding chapter in Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa To me it appears, that there are in the moment not enough authors active that look for Guinea, maybe it is because the main language there is french.

No new content due to page blanking and reverts and other disruption by others, that's why

Malanoqa, Why keep editing when certain editors are hostile to the article's existence and keep blanking the page and causing disruption? Do you know, they intend to take away new content from the new articles, which they don't have, and place it on their article? Sorry, but one simply can't abuse editors like that. I've written an entire article for this page but I'll not post it until this is sorted. If this article is blanked again and 'merged' that's fair play as we've had an RfC from the wider community. It will eventually become an article on it's own down the line, anyway. These are sovereign countries, not a conglomerate of states known as West Africa. And this main article here should be a summary and keep the content that is general to the overall epidemic which would be cumbersome for the individual articles. Also, I don't think there's a language barrier, in any event. Thanks for commenting. Perhaps you'd be interested in contributing to the new articles? They might not blank your contributions. SW3 5DL good to hear from you, that you prepare an article for Guinea. I searched today, whether I can find something in french, as this is the official language in Guinea, but I failed. I see you already positively replied to the idea regarding cloning the sections with key facts for the country article "Key facts" cloning available. Why don´t you do this? I think it is good idea. By the way I can understand your impression regarding hostility, when I read some of the replies to my first postings in the talk section, I was unhappy. But I tend to interprete this as either carelessness or a misunderstanding on my side, not as intention to be unfriendly. I propose you add your new text, either direct in the article or first in this talk section. When you add {{reflist-talk}} after it, it will displayed in the talk with a correct list of references. People can then give feedback, and moderators know, that there is activity on this page. And you are right, the three are different countries, not just West Africa. I just have to look on the diagram with the country specifc case and death number, how different they are. Guinea steadily slowly growing, Liberia and Sierra Leone growing heavily, but the latter reporting far less deaths. Malanoqa, That would be tres magnifique if you would edit this article. Yes, we could use someone who can read the French papers and source that content. And you're so right, the epidemic is growing in these countries. I think they are under reporting, like the U.S. There have been many people being admitted to American hospitals for evaluation but it's not really been reported until this first case in Dallas appeared. SW3 5DL I changed my iVote. To be honest, I think both side have good arguments. But this discussion consumes a lot of time, time I would like to spent on improving the content. Malanoqa, Gosh I had no idea how hard you had to work. I appreciate what you must be going through. It does take a lot of time. I will be happy when it is over, as well. The time is better spent working on the content. I've gathered a lot of material for this article and I'm working on a rough draft. I have to sort out the best references and make sure they are the most up to date. That takes a lot of time, too. I wish we could communicate in French. It would help make things go faster for you. As noted above, the main page article has more complete information than this split, which is supposed to go into more detail. Transmission section

I added the transmission section per the talk page discussion above. I trimmed it down per the discussion. Now I would like to make it specific to this article by writing about how the index patient became infected. There are good articles about it and it ties in with the Harvard genome sequencing. That's why I'm writing/changing it to be specific to the index case and the transmission throughtout Guinea. We can use the "key facts" that has been put on the U.S. article. I think it would be best for those to be on all the articles. What do you think? SW3 5DL (talk) 18:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Popular culture

I've spent quite some time reworking the Popular Culture section into a Other Works derived from the Ebola crisis section, as well as a short West African Myths about ebola. Most item have multiple source's, including WHO, and some even have a link/feed to the track itself... Is this now worth reinserting to this article?? Gremlinsa (talk) 08:52, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned references in 2014 Ebola virus epidemic in Guinea

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2014 Ebola virus epidemic in Guinea's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Removal of sourced content

Please do not remove sourced content without first discussing the content here. This is not the 'main' article. Any old discussions about content that took place on the 'main article' about that article, do not govern edits on this article. Content needs here are different. This topic can expand and include details about how the outbreak began. Any information from the epidemiologists who conducted the trace-back analysis is especially relevant here. These edits about how this outbreak began are appropriate to this article. Guinea is where it started. Expanding on that topic here is appropriate. OK, I've had enough of this and will no longer be working on this article. As I clearly said above, I am presently working on this and will add details as I go along. If I am going to have to fight and edit war while I am in the very process of doing my work, with an editor that has not been around since Oct. 6 and shows up instantly as I'm working, it's not worth my time. SW3 5DL Gandydancer It may well be discussed whether the story of the early time of the outbreak belongs to the Ebola Guinea page just because it was Guinea where it happened. I've taken on the Ebola culture page (now Cultural effects of the Ebola crisis) and will be migrating some of the Works derived from the Ebola crisis into that article, so as to tidy up this side a little...
