For some of the St. Louis/Missouri info: "Cleaning up, gauging damage from flooding", [9], and here's one about a new levee preventing a repeat of the same damage as in '93: [10]. --Umrguy42 (talk) 00:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

None of these are now valid websites. Bettymnz4 (talk) 02:46, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename article?[edit]

I was going to work on this article to bring it closer to Good Article status. As I was reading the article and then looking at resources, I saw that there were several floods in the general area during the spring/summer of 2008. This article focuses on the effects of the rains of March 18 on southeastern Missouri. I'm proposing renaming the article March 2008 southern Midwest floods; (unless someone can come up with a less-pedestrian title). It would be difficult for me to work on the article with its current title, because it seems unfocused. Let me know what you think. Thank you for your input! I think that would be a better name for it, to tell you the truth, I just threw together this article fairly quickly and have been more or less semi-retired from Wikipedia since I made it. I could help you out with some references, especially since the weather service has the storm data publication out for that time period now, but I just don't have the time to sit down and work on an article like I used to. Hope this helps! Southern IllinoisSKYWARNGot something to say? 01:12, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I won't have time to begin work on this for a week or two. When I'm ready to work on it, I'll move it to my user page. The first thing I'll do (on my user page) will be renaming if no one else chimes in on the renaming issue. It would be of tremendous help if you could list your sources here (urls would be very helpful). It usually takes me 4-6 weeks to rework an article. I do appreciate having "permission" from the original author (even though we don't own the articles we created;) lol Bettymnz4 (talk) 02:47, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Probably the most useful would be http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/pah/pdf/pahmar08.pdf Which is storm data from the NWS office in Paducah for March 08. It would be nice if the other offices put storm data on their websites, but alas, they make it rather hard to find. And then a couple other websites you can play around with: the National Climatic Data Center: http://www4.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-win/wwcgi.dll?wwEvent~Storms , where you can get details for almost literally each report filed to the National Weather Service, and then Iowa Environmental Mesonet, which has archives for a ton of stuff, but can be a little hard to navigate around. It would be most useful for getting exact text from warnings: http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/archive/ . A couple of local news sites will hopefully have things, WSIL and KFVS. The NCDC has a ton too, but even I haven't really messed around with it. Southern IllinoisSKYWARNGot something to say? 02:59, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Copy-and-pasted article to my user page under the name Mid- to Late March 2008 southern Midwest floods. It will take me four to six weeks to rework the article and then post it to WP. (This particular article will probably be merged with 'my' new one.) Bettymnz4 (talk) 18:42, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have lost focus and interest in this article. I did some rewording and did download maps of each of the states affected. If you want to see what I did, here it is: User:Bettymnz4/Mid- to Late March 2008 southern Midwest floodsBettymnz4 (talk) 23:14, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
