American vs Brit english[edit]

Just a POR: Since this article deals with an American subject (i.e. a motorcycle produced for the American market, requested by an American company) is it not WP to stick to local spellings and language?Izaakb 14:30, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't think of it. It makes sense that sub-pages should keep the parent article language. I am Australian, and taught to write in British English. It's a hard habit to shake. If you want to change it to American English, that is quite ok by me. (There may be the same thing on other Ducati sub-pages I started.) Seasalt 11:13, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, honestly, I am not a stickler for changing. I think if the difference is just spelling (i.e. tyres vs tires) it doesn't bother me. However, I would ask that we all be careful to avoid colloquialisms, which can be confusing. My original question was more hypothetical than pedantic. Peer Review[edit]

I liked your article. It was well written and gave good detail of the bike's history. What this article needs more than anything (and I believe the article REQUIRES) a picture of some sort (not exactly sure how you would go about getting one . . . maybe find a image through google and email the owner for permission to use). Another thing that this article might benifit from would be a infobox for some of its specifications (maybe one of the two used on the Suzuki TL1000R page). Speaking of which, you mind peer reviewing that Suzuki page (Suzuki TL1000R)? Like I said, you have a great article here, but it REALLY NEEDS a picture to complete it. - BMan1113VR 23:34, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Only two made[edit]

On the basis that there were only two made, in silver and gold, it's interesting that the Ducati site scrolling gallery shows a European-spec image in black - ie. without the short tank and western saddle with cissy bar. Maybe it was faked-up by Marketing with long tank, dualseat, clocks, tailight and a quick paint job.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:06, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The standard practice at the time was for Joe Berliner to fly to Italy with a group of his dealers to view a Ducati's model range each with a selection of different handlebars, seats, tanks and so on, so that the dealers could mix and match them according to what they thought US buyers might want. Since this project was entirely for Berliner, you'd expect Ducati to have done the same here. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 23:58, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There are three Motor Cycle issues covering the British bike show period, and I only have the middle one. The image has been heavily cropped to show mainly engine, but although in BW, it seems to be from a promo shot of the Gold/Black bike.
