I created this page mostly from the Dubois information on the main page. However, I'd like to really open this up and discuss who the Dubois family are. Attitudes, show & strip appearances, facts & figures, things that really help the reader to get to know Tom, Sara, and Jaz. Oh, and I'd also like better references. Link to DuBois[edit]

You might wanna put something up about how McGruder named Tom and his entire family after W.E.B. DuBois, and how Tom really exemplifies what DuBois wrote about when discussing how black people should strive for in society; namely, higher education and integration with white people. Obviously, Tom went to an Ivy League school and is married to a white woman.

Tom Dubois = Barack Obama?[edit]

I was looking up Barack Obama on wikipedia earlier today and I noticed the cartoon's version of Tom seems a little based on Barack in terms of appearance. Anyone else notice this?Michael Cook 08:12, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Jazmine Section[edit]

Under Jazmine, second paragraph: 'Though Huey takes pleasure in ripping on her both subtly and conspicuously, she considers him to be a close friend.' Most of the time, when he chooses to tear into her, it is actually his way of dealing with her ignorance and naiveté in what could be construed as an unnecessarily cruel way to try and enlighten her. I concur. Does not compute. Also, I think whoever said she has disdain for her father has never had a crush on a celebrity. If I could've met Joan Collins back in the 80's when she was hot & evil in Dynasty and my mother took a shot at her, I'd be ticked off too. The second paragraph in Jazmine's section seems fallacious as to why Huey "criticizes" her. Might I suggest someone read "The Souls of Mixed Folk: Race, Politics, and Aesthetics in the New Millennium" by Michelle Elam?
