Cover art[edit]

The source for File:Beyonce-DrunkInLove.jpg is [1], which cites Getty Images as its source. However, when I search for the image elsewhere, nothing turns up. Since the song has not been released for sale separately from the album, it would surprise me that there is in fact cover art. I will remain dubious of its authenticity unless it is posted or shown by Columbia or Beyonce. Adabow (talk) 21:32, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I totally disagree with the fact that the cover isn't real! Power 105.1 is a reliable source, so I don't see why you're making a big deal out of this @Adabow! Cover art by definition accompanies the release. Since the single has only been sent to radio, and not made available as a separate purchasable product, there is nothing to be accompanied by cover art. Furthermore, the radio station is the only source that gives this image - I would expect Sony or another representative of Beyonce to publish this cover somewhere if it were official. Radio stations do tend to accept gossip and rumour as fact reasonably easily. Even reliable sources get thing wrong sometimes! Adabow (talk) 06:11, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we should use it because that's a caption from the website page; if they do post a cover art even if the song isn't available for purchase, it counts as cover art regardless. Sorry for biting. But really, unless Columbia Records says "this is the cover art for xyz", we cannot use any given image that does not accompany a release. Since there is not separate purchasable release for "Drunk" (yet, anyway), we cannot claim that an image is cover art. That's plain original research. Consensus isn't just about obtaining a majority; it's about developing reason for taking an action. So far we only have sources effectively saying "look, here's a picture related to Drunk in Love!". I haven't seen a copy of this image accompanying a single release. I know that this image appears in the album notes for Beyoncé, but if that is the only "official" association there is (i.e. it is the "song image", not the single cover"), then I don't know that that would satisfy WP:NFCC#8. As for sources no. 3 and 4, they are some altered versions of the image that is currently used as the cover here, but they don't look the same – the text is placed differently. "Drunk in Love" controversy[edit]

Okay, seriously. After a long time semi-retiring, I have been searching for information about the song, and recently I have been known about a "shocking" truth that "Drunk in Love" lyrics address domestic violence, according to sources such as Mirror, Forbes, The Guardian or Time. The Jay-Z rapping line "I am Ike Turner…Baby know I don’t play. Now eat the Cake, Anna Mae" was a line from Tina Turner's biopic What's Love Got to Do with It (Ike Turner was Tina Turner's husband). Here's what Daily Mirror reported:

For those of you who, unlike me, are not obsessed with Tina Turner and did not watch the film of her life story – What’s Love Got To Do With It – almost 100 times, this line is from that film. Tina Turner, real name Anna Mae Bullock, has just released her own music single and two kids come up to her at a diner asking for her autograph. Not her husband Ike's. Ike is jealous. He tells her to "eat the cake" so they can celebrate her new and independent success. She doesn’t want any. He says "Eat the cake, Anna Mae" and when she refuses, he stands up, shoves it in her mouth and across her face. Her friend and backing vocalist tries to stop him. Ike threatens her, beats her and she runs away shouting to Tina Turner, "You are dead if you stay with him." It’s one of the most humiliating scenes in a film that charts the continuous rape and beating by a jealous and violent husband of his wife; a wife who goes on to become one of the biggest music icons, rock’n’roll icons, female icons, black female icons, and icons of recovery from domestic abuse, of the 20 century.

Okay, I'm quite shocked because this is one of my favorite songs, and it was released four months ago, but I have no idea that the meaning behind the lyrics is so controversial. I have read some articles on it and personally I find it quite disgusting and contradictive relatively to the album's feminist ways. However this isn't a forum... Why is this section the longest in the article? It is non-neutral and places undue weight on the issue. It also reads like a piece of journalism or an essay. Can the facts of the controversy please be presented more neutrally? I'm especially astounded that prior to my edits Jay-Z was not mentioned in anyway. I've trimmed it down significantly, but I would prefer if some editors could look over it and gave some of their own opinions on what should go into it. I agree with Mayast and Adabow, this should be incorporated into one of these sections where the lyrical analysis is more appropriate. HĐ, I've removed your edit again because as I stated earlier, your placing too much weight on the issue. I don't think we need to describe this issue in relation to the Grammy Awards or any live performance as all this does is tell the reader that a Jay-Z lyric (mouthed and sang by Beyoncé) is controversial as it refers to domestic violence.
