Camp and Kitsch?

Why are these listed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.82.137.73 (talk) 05:42, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Lobo Halcyon link

To note: the Lobo Halcyon link is an artist link, not a genre link, and has been removed. --JB Adder | Talk 11:15, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

spam link?

I removed the link to "Digital Samsara", as I think that a band that has only been active since 2005 should not be mentioned as "important" (compared to K&D and Thievery Corp), especially as they seem to be performing only on a national level (you can see this on their flash-bloated website)

I'm open for counter-arguments, though :)

(btw ... having typos in edits mentioning quite unknown (?) names is not really a good start IMHO ...)

Notable Artists

There is a problem on this page with artists being added to this list that are definitely not notable. This list really needs to be pruned and I would like a second or third pair of eyes on this. Some of these are have very little background within the genre and some aren't even downtempo artists. I even see red links on here now and this leads me to believe people are editing it to include themselves for self promotion.

I see this hasn't been updated in a year as well. A lot of these artist's don't belong here. The Xx comes to mind. They are electro pop/Chillwave and are not downtempo go-to artists. Things like this only clog up the genre and take away from actual Downtempo artists. It's inaccurate to even put Bluetech in with The XX as they are 2 completely different forms of music. One is focused downtempo, the other is ElectroPop TheInfamousFX (talk) 06:23, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Do we really need a notable artists section? We're talking about a whole genre here. Some of the artists don't even have wiki pages. Free Bullets (talk) 06:59, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

How about we split the list of artists into its own article so the genre itself can be expanded here. Any objections? - Shiftchange (talk) 05:21, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

I agree with your statement about the notable artists, there is one artist in particular, Blanket, that has no Wikipedia page and has no major success within the genre. Furthermore one of the most influential artists in the genre, Bored of Canada, is not mentioned at all in the article. I believe that as a genre, down tempo struggles from feeling cohesive and if the Wikipedia page was edited to better represent the genre it would further substantiate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.62.206.251 (talkcontribs) 23:00, 8 October 2015

@74.62.206.251: This is an old thread now moot. The list of notable artists was spun out to a separate page: List of downtempo artists. Boards of Canada is indeed listed there. Where is there mention of "Blanket"? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 00:39, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
