Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi[edit]

It's not necessary to include the sculptor's full name, as you get that in his article. "Donatello" is enough for this article. 64.231.15.43 15:59, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Donatello does machines.jpg[edit]

Image:Donatello does machines.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. No picture of him from the first film?[edit]

On the other three turtles' pages they each have a picture from the first film. Why not Donny, too?--Tainted Drifter 05:19, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and why is that picture not deleted? Why don't they just delete every picture from every article?

Comics Sections?[edit]

Why are the comics section of BOTH Leonardo and Donatello removed? Raphael and Michelangelo still got theirs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.208.227.163 (talk) 17:32, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good question. It looks like the section was removed way back in April by an unregistered user whose only other edits were typing "Hi" into articles and in all those months since it was removed nobody did a thing about that vandalism to this article. I'll put it back.--Stranger Dan (talk) 02:06, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Different colored figure[edit]

I know this is useless information, but when I was a kid I was always mystified that Donny action figures were always a different color from the other turtles, more of an olive green. Best I can recall, the other three turtles' skin tone was the same, just Donny was singled out. Anyone know if there's a story behind it / should be included in the article somewhere? I know the 2003 series section mentions that he is so colored in that series. Instead of the somewhat untrue statement that he only appears that color in the 2003 animation, maybe alter the sentence to mention his color difference in the series is a reference to his different-colored action figure? 24.91.115.238 (talk) 22:53, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All four turtles had differing skin tones in the original Playmates toy line. Yeah, Donatello was more olive, Raphael was Kelly green, Michelangelo more forest green and Leonardo emerald green. (He says as he checks his vintage TMNT figures he still has almost 25 years later). So there's no real reason to mention it, especially as they're not consistent across versions, unlike the mask colors which are in use in almost all versions (except the Mirage universe). oknazevad (talk) 02:14, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Main photo[edit]

The main picture should be of the original comic book character and not just the latest animated show. 70.24.152.163 (talk) 15:57, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Donatello Age and Leadership Rank[edit]

So this is kind of small and honestly it could have changed since Nick bought the Ninja Turtles franchise. There is a question though on who is oldest. I believe the original Mirage Studios comics had them all the same age originally and eventually in other iterations of the comics Leonardo was normally portrayed as the oldest. Donatello in most incarnations of the character was either the 2d oldest or in some incarnations was the same age as Raphael and Michelangelo being the youngest. That being said I don't think the current IDW comics gives their age as turtles, but in their human incarnation it shows Leonardo and Donatello as the Oldest, followed by Raphael, and then Michelangelo. Again, I don't know Nicks current stance on this, but at least in their comic versions they seem to stick with Donatello being the 2d oldest.

Now as for who is second or third in command, again I don't think there is an official rank structure, which you state in the article. I asked this question through their old website for a middle school project...I mean I was a kid and we ask these types of questions...And their response was pretty much there's no official rank structure. Leonardo kind of became the de facto leader due to his age and maturity. Donatello they said is normally portrayed as the 2d in command, for similar reason. It's just it says "prior" to Raphael taking that spot. The problem though is that I don't think that's been an official stance in the Mirage Comics. In fact Donatello takes a more spiritual role in the later Mirage Comics and it could be argued that he was much more better written as a character who could take the role of leadership if something happened to Leonardo, again no official rank structure so it's opinion. For example, in the CGI TMNT movies, he has clearly taken more of a older-brother role in being the care taker until Leonardo returns. It's just weird to add that rank structure into the article when it states that there's no official rank structure. At best the ranking of who's next in command is ambiguous and I think the comics does that on purpose, because they know people will argue that fact.

I think it would be better written if it was written "Donatello in some iterations has taken up the role as either the second or third in command of the team."

For their age, I think the comics in clear enough though to suggest that Donatello is probably older than Raphael. I'm unsure about the current animated series if that's true, but it seems to be more supported in the Comic iterations that he's older than Raphael and Michelangelo.

Update for Page[edit]

This page seems largely out of date and lacking a lot of necessary information for the character. Is there anyone who frequents this wiki? I reccomend this for update, but I'm not knowledgeable enough on the subject to fix the large things. MarchingTMNT (talk) 23:03, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
