Disruption section has dubious examples

One thing really stood out for me as not belonging there. Personal computers are not disrupted by tablets or smartphones because there are desktop applications that cannot be replaced by smartphones or tablets. For example plenty of games would be unplayable on a tablet or mobile phone. Also personal computers make certain applications much more user friendly by having a keyboard and mouse. Desktop computers are a definite mainstay for hardcore gaming and won't be going away anytime soon. Xanikk999 (talk) 05:05, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

I appreciate the Talk comment as I also found this example to not be spot-on; the personal computer might be an example of disruption, but not exactly as described, as the comment refers to the nature of distributed powers and knowledge, not to the definition of disruptive innovation. Second, the personal computer arrived in cases, first the desktop, and then the laptop, with different characteristics cleaving to either disruptive or sustained innovation business models. Solutions could be to: A. Select different examples, from Professor Christenson's models, in steel, low-cost market entries into microprocessors faced by Intel that resulted int eh Celeron at Intel to quash the disruptive interlopers, and other industry examples. Christensen's publications use the case method and are quite accessible as presented. Or B. Revamp the computer example to refer to its disruptive innovation characteristics.
