Ummm... What's wrong with the infobox? Vegetaman 18:26, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

The only reason I would believe Dio is power metal is because of the choice of fantasy and mystical lyrics, and songs like "Killing The Dragon" with their upbeat tempo and vocal stylings (albeit a dark lyrical concept). User:Vegetaman 15 August 2006

Let me say something about this guys. the word ... mean LORD..in italian!

I am making Dream Evil the article about the band Dream Evil and switching the album to Dream Evil (album). --Sn0wflake 04:53, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hey folks, contrary to what some liner notes say it's "Craig Goldy" not "Goldie" - the original "ie" was added by Wendy Dio back when Craig was first brought on board, because she thought the "ie" sounded younger. --EvilCheeseWedge

Why hard rock? Were not at least the 5 first discs power metal: melodic, minor (not major), fantasy/mythological words etc.?

Edit as you feel nescasary Muya 20:33, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Power Metal??

Dio is not power metal. --EvilCheeseWedge

It NO power metal. NOT AT ALL. NONE of Dio's Records was in power metal style.

Of course Dio is not Power Metal, removed it--Neo139 20:57, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Looks like the reference creeped back in. I'll be taking it out. Teh aar0n 04:21, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

tense

given that it is now june 06 and the evil or divine album is out, should the paragraph about the An Evening w/ Dio tour's tense be updated to reflect past instead of future?

South Park episode

Was that really RJD's voice in the South Park episode? I've never seen it myself, but my brother did and he told me RJD's character has a funny voice. Infinitrium 02:55, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

No, it wasn't his voice. User:Vegetaman 15 August 2006

Charting

Why the were UK chart positions removed? This site isn't used exclusively by Americans, and Dio were very popular in the UK in the 80s at least (And unlike in the US, had some Top 20 albums!)... is this denial, arrogance or someone thinking that makes it look tidier? User:AdmiralvonAxehaufen 22:00, 06 August 2006 (GMT)

I think it should be added back. User:Vegetaman 15 August 2006

Possible trivia?

I don't know where I saw this before, so unfotunately there won't be a source, but if you flip the DIO logo upside down it spells out "DEVIL". This of course being interesting seeing as how Dio has often times had opposites in his titles - Evil and Devine, Live/Evil (with Black Sabbath) - this being DIO vs DEVIL (GOD vs DEVIL)... I won't add it, but if anyone wants to please feel free. Here is the image:

dave 03:41, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

It works best with the cover from the Dream Evil album. Vegetaman 03:50, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

DOESN'T SAY DEVIL.

Yup, someone needs to spell it out for me cause i can not see it.

clean-up

This article needs a clean-up. The whole article is basically the intro section, which is supposed to be short. Someone please do this, as I do not have the time right now. Also, I think a "Dio discography" page should be created. Good idea? --141.209.196.70 01:48, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Awesome. --LifeEnemy 05:54, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Why Does The Link To Dream Evil link go to the band and not the album?

Down in the Discography when you click on Dream Evil it takes you to the band and not the album. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Puppet funk (talkcontribs) 23:25, 19 February 2007 (UTC).

Only the pic that shows the inverted Logo saying Devil

I seriously don't see the word Devil, it seems more like you think It could say that and your imagination makes you think it to be true but Ie really only see A D that looks more like an O an E and and upside down D. OED =/= Devil maybe if you made each part a separate color or something. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.182.251.58 (talk) 07:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC).

Actually, The only Dio album cover that supposedly looks like the word "Devil" is the logo from the "Dream Evil" album. All the others just look like an Old English/Gothic font of the Name "Dio". Mikepope (talk) 02:56, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Photos

I've been corresponding with a photographer via email who is willing to relicense some photos for use on Wikipedia. There's a gallery of photos of Dio and BlackSabbath here. Interested editors should email about specific photos (we have to get affirmative permission for each photo).--Chaser - T 19:23, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Hard Rock vs Heavy Metal

The latest revision shows that references to heavy metal were replaced with 'hard rock'. What was the reason for this? I know sometimes there's some debate about it, but it seems pretty cut and dried with Dio. --Noticeofmeowery 22:52, 18 September 2007

Lastest revision must have mistaken Dio with his last band, Rainbow. - HoichitheEarless 1:36, 19 September 2007

Lets revamp this article

Hey. I'm fresh from working damn hard to turn the Van Halen article into something much better. It's not done but taken a lot of work to make it a lot better. This article's in a similar state, but I don't feel I know enough about the band to approach it alone. Someone message me if we can get this thing together.(The Elfoid 23:46, 30 September 2007 (UTC))

Overhaul

I did a moderate to major restructure of the page, adding subdivisions in the history, and moving some random info in the middle to a "popular culture" section at the end. Also added a couple more refs. It still needs quite a bit more work, in terms of structure, information and refs, but there is a framework now. Hopefully someone who is a lttle more familiar with the band will come and help clean up after me. H2ostra (talk) 05:16, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Added references and removed items that I couldn't verify, also removed "needs references" tag. J04n (talk) 05:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Kick start

This page needs some urgent help. There are no cites! I've started doing a clean-up. Tenacious D Fan (talk) 14:55, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I did a little cleanup at the beginning of the bio. put a piece about Jake lee under chronology, because it seemed to fit there better, and added a supporting refference. I'll do some more later.

H2ostra (talk) 02:25, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Picture needed

Is it acceptable to use a promotional picture of the band from RJD's official website? The picture appears on a "media" section of the website so I believe it is ok. J04n (talk) 02:36, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, I added the picture, if it was improper I'm sure it will be removed. J04n (talk) 03:18, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Dio vs Dio

I was just re-reading this article and noticed that the word "Dio" in some instanes refers to the band and others refers to the person. For folks who aren't familiar with the subject this may be confusing, does anyone agree? Also under "Cutural references", I believe the South Park section is appropriate here BUT the Tenacious D part sounds like it shoud be on the "Ronnie James Dio" page (although I must admit that I never saw the movie, did the person or the band appear?). J04n (talk) 10:59, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I changed several uses of Dio to Ronnie James Dio and removed the paragraph about Tenacious D which is described on the Ronnie James Dio Page. J04n (talk) 15:25, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Power Metal

So is Dio power metal or not. His music is classic metal that is about dungeons and dragons, and I've seen him been called power metal before. I don't know if he really fits the label or not. 68.102.235.239 (talk) 21:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so. I remember there was a consensus that he wasn't power metal. Maybe if you have a source. RandySavageFTW (talk) 00:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

The only source I can think of is on the second disc of the movie Metal: A Headbanger's Journey that has lists of genres that bands are labeled under and Dio is under power metal. I don't think this is a very reliable source though because Judas Priest is under power metal and they are not power metal. Look the movie up on Wikipedia. 68.102.235.239 (talk) 03:15, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Hard rock because on the holy diver compact disc edition it says "for some of the finest moments in hard rock history;..." so I have reason to believe it is hard rock SaiyanEmperor2008 (talk) 15:48, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
