Part of a Program[edit]

They are not the exactly the same; a DTA is an equipment that could be used is several countries. The CECB is a goverment's program that defines certain characteristics of a DTA to be eligible for a discount coupon. --200.38.208.194 (talk) 19:50, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merging[edit]

A CECB is a DTA, but not vice versa. The two articles should be distinct, and cross-referenced, but explaining the differences. algocu (talk) 20:19, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most of what's here appears to be about the CECB's. There's nothing currently on this page about non-eligible boxes such as recording devices or HDTV tuners, and nothing about non-US systems such as DVB-T. As such, I have no idea what here offers anything other than pointless duplication of the CECB article. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 15:51, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed that there is little/nothing here that is not on the CECB page, but that just means we need more on this page. There *are* DTA boxes that are not CECB. Bread Dog (talk) 02:27, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, this page seems to be a little neglected. I will add the change in deadline to 6/12/09 on the article. Bread Dog (talk) 02:27, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing here to prevent it from being merged. Of course, someone seems to have gotten very upset about the CECB article.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:47, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the other article's talk page and found this.[1] There most definitely is potential for this article.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:23, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm doing a search for early details of the converter box concept. Where they are specific to the coupon program, I put the information in the CECB article. Where they were not, I put them here.
I was updating the CECB article when I found new information which, now that I think of it, may not be specific to the coupon program, but all those requirements and such are covered in so much detail it wouldn't make sense to move it all here. I added the information there and don't see any point in moving it here ... yet. But below that was a paragraph that had absolutely nothing to do with the coupon program! Significant new potential for this article ... I hope.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:25, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
European digital television adapters! Great idea! I think this article has potential on its own, and I see Radiojon has essentially closed the merger discussion.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

HDTV adapter is a type of DTV adapter?[edit]

Is an HDTV adapter is a type of DTV adapter? If so, should HDTV adapter appear here in a section? And what about HDTV tuner, HDTV decoder, HDTV set-top box, etc.? Facts707 (talk) 22:45, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

10-11 years late, but DTV adapters that have HDMI outputs are HDTV adapters. If there is no HD output on the unit, then the adapter will only output SD. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:287F:98A2:9496:E21C (talk) 02:00, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DTA disambiguation needed[edit]

Digital Transport Adapter is not the same as a Digital to Analog Adapter (or Converter). A Digital Tranport Adapter (DTA) only receives the tuned channel, hence one DTA box is required per TV/set, and PIP feature of current sets will not work. A Digital to Analog Adapter may only convert a DTV signal for an analog TV set. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.11.16 (talk) 18:05, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DTA Converter Boxes and their ATSC Standards[edit]

I heard that stations that switch over to ATSC 3.0 will still have to broadcast in ATSC 1.0 for the next five years. In this case, are there any digital-to-analog TV converter boxes that support ATSC 3.0? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:3985:1C41:B2A3:F116 (talk) 20:48, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
