I have been looking over the Wikipedia articles on the urethral sphincter, external urethral sphincter, internal urethral sphincter and this one. They all deal with similar topics. I suggest that they be merged. The term "urethral sphincter" without any other qualification, i.e., external or internal, is not in current usage. I suggest that the page dealing with this term become a redirection page for the two different terms. The "internal urethral sphincter" could be redirected to the page on the urinary bladder, and the "external urethral sphincter" could be redirected here, as the external sphincter is one of the muscles of the deep perineal pouch.

The content of the present article needs to be improved and expanded. There are various inaccuracies which need to be fixed. The section on "structure" does not deal with the internal structure of the pouch, which should also be described. Neural control of the musculature is not mentioned, neither is the vasculature supplying it. This page could also include descriptions of the external urethral sphincters in the male and the female, which are simply an indistinct part of the other musculature in the deep perineal pouch.
