Love affair with Vaclav Neckar? It´s absolute nonsense! Do you have any evidence, that Neckar is gay?! For the record, I have nothing against gay or lesbians. But speculations about love affair of Reed and Neckar... This is some kind of naive western tale about these "weird eastern european countries" (as you are thinking about us). Reed's death[edit]

I just wanted to write to support the claim under the "Death and Legacy" section that Reed's family believed he was murdered. While I cannot speak for the entire family, I am a relative, and growing up I was, in fact, told that he was murdered, and that the death appeared accidental as a cover-up.

Elvis, Reed's idol?[edit]

I've read a couple of books about the man, and browsed the German website (deanreed.de), but nowhere does it say that Elvis Presley was Dean Reed's idol.

Do these sentences: "His fame, and record sales <...> even exceeding those of his idol, Elvis Presley."

"...more popular and a hotter record seller <...> than Elvis Presley, <...> the latter being his idol"

- have any foundation in fact?

The only connection between the two that I know of is that Dean Reed was often compared to Presley, and even labeled by some as the Red Elvis - based chiefly on a similar fame he achieved in Eastern Bloc countries - but I've never heard of him actually idolising Elvis.

Have I missed something?

Duplicate external links[edit]

Is there any reason to link to 3 different versions of the E-Encyclopedia of Dean Reed, since they all appear to contain the same content? Plazak (talk) 23:12, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; it seems unnecessary. Also, one of them is to a German website. I think that one at least can be removed since this is the English version of WP and not many people will find it useful. HotshotCleaner (talk) 21:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suicide? Suicide note?[edit]

Any hard evidence aside rumors and sayings? At this far, i think, suicide is speculation. Suicide note? Anyone actually seen it? Where it is now? It is known there was a sleeping pill found in autopsy, and he was alcoholic. Accidental drowning is still official and most logical cause of his death. (Murder?! Oh, please...)

1971 Movie[edit]

Die Vergnügungsspalte is an ugly title (pleasure-slit), but might also mean Vergnügungsseite (funny column or ...page in a newspaper). The film was directed by Heinz- Gerhard Schier, under the name of Tony Barinda. The film got a FSK 18 rating. A german film blog lists Sergio Pastore as second director, but this obviously means, that the Vergnügungsseite or Vergnügungsspalte (both versions of the filmtitle were used) incorporated a 1969 film of Sergio Pastore (Il diario proibito di Fanny) into the new H.-G.
