Location[edit]

I suspect that Deadman's Curve refers to the portion of Sunset Blvd west of Baroda Drive. This section was reworked circa 1969, and is now a 'sweeper'.LorenzoB (talk) 03:21, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dead Man's Curve, Sunset Blvd at Evans Rd, Los Angeles

The excellent Snopes piece on Dead Man's Curve puts the location of the curve next to UCLA going eastbound (not westbound as in the song) here.
But the Snopes piece (worth reading in its entirety) notes the location is "the subject of some debate", and my own street racing memories from the time are of the curve at Evans Rd traveling westbound (as in the song) here, a nasty decreasing radius blind turn to the left with a downhill entry. Maximum speed in the first half of the turn is too fast for the last half of the turn, making it all too easy to lose control, run off the road and crash, and I remember seeing the aftermath of a number of crashes there.
