Untitled[edit]

Someone keeps adding the following without explanation: "who works with the distinguished graduate students Omar Tonsi Eldakar, Daniel Tumminelli O'Brien and Andrew Gallup".

No explanation is provided for their alleged distinction, which makes it sound like self promotion by one of the individuals mentioned. Can someone confirm that these people are indeed "distinguished" (deserving of their own articles perhaps?) whereupon they can be added back? --Gargletheape 17:39, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed again. Provide evidence of notabilty before readding. Mike R 00:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Evolutionist"[edit]

I changed "evolutionist" to "evolutionary biologist" on the grounds that "Evolutionist" is a creationist POV term, rather than a NPOV description of his work as a scientist. I did this before I realised that the same could have been accomplished with a reversion. EmmetCaulfield (talk) 19:36, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

— Wilson, according to his book "Evolution for Everyone" at least (see page 1), sees himself as an "evolutionist" because he applies evolutionary theory to wider fields of inquiry, such as sociology. However, I agree with you that this might be a POV term, perhaps actually mentioning his view explicitly might clear things up (especially since it would clarify his research interests)? Hendvi (talk) 06:14, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also changed "Professor of anthropology and evolution" to "Professor of Biological Sciences", since that seems to be how he is most often described on the Binghamton U. websites. EmmetCaulfield (talk) 19:50, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the term "Generalized Darwinism" be mentioned in this article, since the focus of David Sloan Wilson's research? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 00:15, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
