Senator Ratliff[edit]

Senator Ratliff was never "acting" Lt. Governor. He was elected by the Senate to succeed Governor Perry, after Gov. Bush took office as President. Though not elected by the public, S. Ratliff was fully empowered as Lt. Gov. SteveHopson 18:59, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Businesspeople category[edit]

Hi, I'm wondering why you reverted my edit to the David Dewhurstarticle, it said he was in office "2003-present". I believe that we are both veteran Wikipedians, who know that an an elected official currently in office should not have anything written next to the "term end" space in the info box. --71.235.32.22 (talk) 20:45, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I'm not aware of any such format described in the template documentation. Can you refer me to this? The combination of a blank edit summary (especially from an anonymous user) and absent documentation on the matter made me think your edit was vandalism. That's why it was reverted. On a side note, upon examining your address, it appears that you've only made a total of 75 edits to Wikipedia all within a 6 month time span. Do you have a dynamic IP address or a registered account with Wikipedia? Not that it really matters, but it just appeared odd. Brian Reading (talk) 21:10, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you were to look at other elected official articles, you will see what I mean. I previously had an account, user:bobsmith319. I recently registered to a new account, user:matt319 because I purposely changed my password without looking out of a fit of frustration with another user.
Sorry, but other articles aren't a definitive standard for how to format an article. It's the agreed upon documentation that is available which dictates that. If Wikipedia were to go by the former standard, then most articles would follow a terrible format as most of Wikipedia is stubs, etc. Basically, I don't follow your logic. Someone removed the picture?[edit]

Just wondering why someone had removed the picture... Kind of puzzling, I just periodically check this page because I had wrote him an email seeing if he or his volunteers would update the page.. I have updated it some myself *shrugs* Species2112 14:40, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Candidates for 2010 election[edit]

I've added references to the other candidates in the 2010 election. Previously, only the Democratic candidate (Linda Chavez-Thompson) was listed, but both the Libertarian and the Green Party also have candidates in that election, and if we're going to list one opponent it seems correct to list all of them. I believe this article contains statements that need attribution. In particular, under "Personal", the line "A native Houstonian, David Dewhurst is a veteran, businessman, rancher and devoted family man." sounds as if it was lifted from a campaign brochure. This is why quality bios try to avoid these type of sections.

Military service[edit]

Sources say he served in the air force during the Vietnam era. However, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he actually served overseas during the war.
