past tense[edit]

I'm no professional wikipedian and didn't have time to read the paragraphs of tedious instructions about how best to address my point, but for those savvy editors out there let me offer this - GEN McKiernan's bio should not have been changed to reflect his command in Afghanistan in the past tense. He is still the ground combatant commander until such time as his relief is confirmed by congress. I know that dozens of people breathlessly ran to edit this article to reflect today's events but they are incorrect in doing so. For what it's worth I'm an active duty Army officer.

"resignation" or "firing" from what?[edit]

The news sources all speak of McKiernan being "fired" or being "asked for his resignation", but is that really accurate? Or is he just being relieved of that particular post? To me if he's "fired" (or resigns) it would mean he will separate entirely from the military. Is that what will happen? Nothing I've seen is specific on that point. --Trovatore (talk) 03:41, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe that if he resigns his commision then he would be seperating from the US military, I do not think you can resign your post... Mabye the rules are different when you have 4 stars. But I have a feeling they aren't RP459 (talk) 15:50, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SIV VISA[edit]

Greetings and respect, I am Ab kaber Mohammadi, I was working at ISAF HQ from 2007 to 2009, and after problems and threats, I had to leave Afghanistan and became an asylum seeker in Turkey. I applied through SIV visa. I need an HR letter, thank you for your help. Thanks 78.190.176.132 (talk) 18:05, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
