Representative or Representative-elect?

I think we can figure this out together, guys. I googled it and found that media sources say that he's being sworn in next week so he can "take office" [1]. So until then, let's put that he's representative-elect. They don't say what day next week, however. Attaboy (talk) 13:51, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

  • Neither swearing in nor "taking office" make him a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. His service begins when he's elected. The only exceptions to this are when the seat is not yet vacant because the election was in anticipation of the next term, or if the Representative-elect is not yet eligible, due to a legal conflict.—GoldRingChip 15:42, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
What's your source? The federal constitution says "The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution..., " so if he hasn't been sworn in, it's not official. I want to give you a chance to respond before I revert your changes, so I'll wait until tonight if there hasn't been a response. Attaboy (talk) 17:12, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Sorry I can't get to this now, but it's been well-discussed for Senate special elections, and I draw my references from there. Yes, you're right, that the oath requirement is required, but it doesn't denote the start of service. 2 U.S.C. § 5304, for example. —GoldRingChip 01:58, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Las Vegas blanking

I just now noticed that a claim got zapped less than a month after I restored it last time. I'd restore it myself, but I'm afraid I might have a WP:COI if I restore it now. Can someone take a look at this and see if it should be restored again? 4 times, criticism about LaHood's time as a prosecutor in Las Vegas has been blanked, each time with no edit summary or a fake edit summary:

The (last version of) the sentence that keeps getting blanked is:

LaHood had problems with slipshod work in the office of the United States Attorney in Las Vegas. I didn't add the claim originally, but two of the times, I restored it; 2 other times, others restored it. While we're at it: Right after Darin LaHood got the Republican nomination, there's this removal about Darin LaHood and Ray LaHood being related to Dayne LaHood, a member of the staff of Aaron Schock, who held the same office in-between Ray and Darin. --Closeapple (talk) 03:29, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
