Popular use of "archer" in ancient Greece[edit]

Michael Alram cites only Plutarch for the claim that darics were popularly termed "archers" in ancient Greece. However, nothing in Plutarch supports this claim. The implication, rather, is that this was a creative use of language on the part of Agesilaus II, which is likely why his remark was remembered and recorded. So, unless there is another primary source that supports this claim, I suggest we delete it from the article. WolfmanSF (talk) 03:15, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

are those real?[edit]

As of today, I wonder if the first two pictures shown in the article are actual darics. I mean that by the looks of it, those pictures seem to depict wax castings of the original coins rather than gold originals. Am I correct or should I get better glasses?
