Regarding the "notability" concern[edit]

I didn't create this article, but I think that might be notable. Danny Jacobs does provide the voice for a major character on a consistently highly rated cable TV show. He's also been involved in a number of acting projects, such as those listed here, albeit they are mostly minor roles.

Still, whether Jacobs is notable or not is not up to me or one individual alone. But regardless, this article on him as it is presently written does not contain enough information on the actor to validate notability – it is certainly in need of content. -- Sgt. R.K. Be on the lookout for abuse on this article![edit]

I have over the course of several weeks reverted additions of the BLP prod template to this article because this article, having been created before March 18, 2010, fails its usage criteria. Several editors have also reverted edits that have changed this article's text to be the same as that of Danny A. Jacobs, a completely different person. Overall, little has been added to this article since its creation beyond the necessary reverts to keep this article in order.

The questionable edits keep coming from newly registered "users" who are often found to be sockpuppets. Due to the constant changing of this article's subject and the BLP prod abuses it has suffered, I may be requesting semi-protection the next time either occurs, and I encourage other editors to be on the lookout. -- Sgt. This is one of several dozen articles targeted by socks of Onelifefreak2007. In addition to edits to existing articles, numerous non-notable articles have been created. As a result, some of the articles this vandal has been created have been proded and/or sent to AfD, perhaps with a bit less caution than they are due. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:46, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Citations[edit]

Why are citations needed? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 20:18, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Citing sources. Everything at Wikipedia should be cited. You're adding a lot of content, but unless you properly ciute your sources, this material is very likely to be removed. I'll add a template to help you find some. H.dryad (talk) 20:19, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Is this new? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 21:14, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, as far as I am aware, it has always been this way. Otherwise anyone could claim anything about anybody without being challenged. H.dryad (talk) 00:58, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying like it makes it much easier to claim something and not show proof? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 07:13, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The idea is that if there are not some secondary sources that validate what is being entered in the encyclopedia, then there is no way of gauging whether that statement is actually true. It is just a claim rather than a verifiable fact. I have added a box above that allows you to click on some links to try to find sources. If you need help ion formatting them then please let me know. H.dryad (talk) 12:24, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Do you even know much about Danny Jacobs? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 12:43, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't. That is not the point, however. The point is that material added to the article needs to be properly sourced otherwise it will eventually be removed.H.dryad (talk) 12:46, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And I try to improve it and try to find as much information about him as possible. You can try, too. -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 17:35, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. I did a search and there seems to be some information in various sources floating about. Will try to shape them up into references in a few days' time. Cheers! H.dryad (talk) 19:45, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
When did they start floating around? Are you sure? Is it new? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 19:26, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I meant that I see information that we can turn into references. H.dryad (talk) 12:21, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Like what? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 14:51, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You can see some of them there: https://www.google.com/search?as_eq=wikipedia&q=%22Danny+Jacobs+%28actor%29%22&num=50 - there are searches in other categories like news: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Danny+Jacobs+%28actor%29%22&tbm=nws that may give you some extra sources as well. Do you know how to format a source? H.dryad (talk) 15:14, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Format a source like how? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 16:50, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at this: Template:Cite_web - when finding a source on a website, try filling in as many of these fields as possible ad enclosing them within ref tags. H.dryad (talk) 12:15, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So what do I need to do? -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 02:55, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have replied in your talk page and given you an example. Best of luck. H.dryad (talk) 14:37, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. -- 70.162.223.119 (talk) 17:29, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Jacobs' father[edit]

On February 10, 2011, his father died. Proof is right on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/daniel.jacobs.9406417/photos/a.838794286218694/1526565937441522/?type=3&theater -- 2600:8800:3980:2550:6591:232:4EA8:85D0 (talk) 01:42, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Facebook is of limited value as a source, because it is self-published. That said, how is the death of his father really that important to his life? —C.Fred (talk) 01:44, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well, when one loses someone they love, it is a vital part of their life as well, since that person they loved is no longer with them and holds an impact. -- 2600:8800:3980:2550:6591:232:4EA8:85D0 (talk) 01:45, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

However, such deaths are not routinely mentioned in articles, unless it has an impact on the person. —C.Fred (talk) 01:50, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As in it drives them to make a documentary about them or something? -- 2600:8800:3980:2550:6591:232:4EA8:85D0 (talk) 01:55, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I removed the reference to this before I saw this conversation. I don't think his father's death is relevant to his notability, or a particularly notable thing to record about anyone. Everyone has parents who die. Sad and very significant for them, of course, but unless there's a connection with other notable aspects of their life, not significant to Wikipedia. -- Escape Orbit (Talk) 17:53, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Very well. -- TrueLegend23 (talk) 01:46, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So why did you again add it to the article, and follow it up with something about a cousin's death? Is this article to keep track on the lives of all his relatives? Unless their deaths mean something to his notability or his work, it's irrelevant personal detail. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 17:09, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see that User:2600:8800:3980:2550:6838:e68c:9d19:6eee has again reverted to put the content in about Jacob's family members death, and hasn't provided anything to support its conclusion. Could they please remove it until there is consensus for its inclusion? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:04, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictory dates[edit]

If Jacobs was only active until 2014, how did he appear in a 2016 movie? -- C.Fred (talk) 15:41, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Could have been released after he was done being active in 2014? -- TrueLegend23 (talk) 00:29, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Besides, that was what it said on allmovie.com. -- TrueLegend23 (talk) 00:48, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
