Use of "cameo-like appearances."[edit]

Smackbot and Sadads want clarification as to the phrase: "who made a series of cameo-like appearances in the lives of Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Edward Ellerker Williams, and Edward John Trelawny." The text in this biography of Captain Roberts makes clear that his appearances in the lives of those noted did not last very long and were like cameo-like appearances in a play, movie or book.
