The sources 104 & 105 clearly state “no confirmation of drug overdose” so how come that these both sources are stated here for this misleading and wrong assumption. Please correct it!

2021 Heart Attack no references for info about 30 minutes without oxygen[edit]

The references used to support evidence claimed that DMZ was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes. But the references which I clicked on and read do not say anything about this or about any time in which he did not have oxygen, so either the person who posted it did it as a joke or he knew something but could not find printed evidence to support. I have worked on this article in the past myself. I would remove this right now, but it could turn out to be true so I will remove later if it proves false. Ty78ejui (talk) 00:02, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Every mention of "thirty minutes without oxygen" that I've seen attributes it to TMZ, and TMZ is not really a good source for contentious claims. That probably shouldn't be in the article. 50.248.234.77 (talk) 01:20, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Ty78ejui; good catch. I just went ahead and fixed this, as the source stated the paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for 30 minutes, not necessarily that his brain was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes. (Although I would imagine these two would basically coincide, there's no way I can extrapolate that from the source without violating WP:OR). TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 01:24, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@50.248.234.77: Per WP:RSP, I've attributed the statement to TMZ. Had this just been TMZ reporting this, I would have excluded the statement. However, as Vulture, a known generally reliable source per WP:RSP, has cited the report from TMZ in their article here, I believe there's no issue leaving the attributed statement in the article. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 01:29, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found the source this morning. https://www.tmz.com/2021/04/03/dmx-suffers-od-overdose-hospital-grave-condition/ And more text has been added since then to clarify the 30 minutes. But this leads to the question why did they not give him oxygen? Ty78ejui (talk) 14:44, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Would not" should be "did not"[edit]

Someone wrote the second paragraph of the "Feud with Ja Rule" subsection in that crummy "he would" form. It's not encyclopedic and it's not good writing. This is a biography, not a docudrama. Please fix the paragraph. I suggest the following:

In 2002 DMX released a diss track, They Want War, on a DJ Kay Slay mixtape; Ja Rule never directly responded.[53] As time passed and the feud faded into obscurity, DMX said that he wanted to officially bring it to an end when he was released from prison in 2005: "Gotti came to me in jail and said. 'I want to make peace with you and him.' I was like, 'Alright Gotti, let's do it."[54] Despite this, DMX and Ja Rule did not officially end their feud until 2009, at VH1's Hip Hop Honors.[55]

Past tense for past events: it's any writer's best choice. 75.101.104.17 (talk) 19:21, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership of the article?[edit]

I made good casual edit, trying to collect all the references to his legal troubles, but I don't see the need to list every single offense of Earl. GloriaJFM, whoever she is, reverted it that generally convinced me that people here on hip-hoppers and rappers are declaring ownership of the articles, which I haven't seen on other rock music bands, not to mention Eminem or Ja Rule, where every single edit is usually reverted by the fan-base of these performers. I don't care, I'll pass out the opportunity to edit these articles, since I find it offensive and inappropriate when I've spent quite some time polishing and structuring the article to be reverted just like that, usually by an inexperienced person, who has no idea what good article like Phish should look like, where I worked my arse over for it. That's it.

Regards: The Mad Hatter (talk)

Five-year pageviews indicate that over 98% of traffic is intended for the rapper. Even if you take out 2021 (given his recent death), the rapper still gets more than 95% of pageviews. Given that this was proposed as the primary topic as early as 2005, it seems to be enduring as pop culture topics go. Unlike some other contested three-letter acronym titles, other items on the page are not impressive. BD2412 T 02:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

His death is so far not directly mentioned in the lede, which I believe is common practice, especially in case of other-than-natural causes, true? This is a condensed version of the second half of § Health issues and death:

In April 2021, DMX was hospitalized due to a cocaine-induced heart attack. He never regained consciousness and died of multiple organ failure a week later.

The current two paragraphs are both strictly career-related, so I guess this should constitute a new third paragraph?
