Deleted a section

Someone added a section on a fan-made D.N.Angel rpg. I deleted that section because it was absolutely no way canon to the original series. Please forgive me if I made any mistakes while deleting that. Also, is D.N.Angel really continuing on Dec. 22 or is that a possible mistranslation? I haven't heard anything about it continuing so I was wondering. Hikarim 02:19, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Plot

The plot needs to be rewritten, it has horrible grammar and stunted sentences. It looks like it was written by a 6 year old.

Redirect to author

In case anyone was curious:
It seems like the Japanese article for D.N.Angel redirected to the Japanese page for the author. Then bot user User:Robbot assumed that the Japanese page for the author was where the proper ja: link should point to. Another user took a glance at the Ja: link copied and pasted the Kanji for the author's name as the Japanese title for D.N.Angel. I fixed both the redirect at the Japanese Wikipedia and the kanji at the English Wikipedia.--69.212.106.58 05:00, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Title

shouldn't this be titled D.N.Angel?--69.212.110.189 23:23, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I agree. This page should be named D.N.Angel. Oh and thanks for posting that 69.212.106.58
Have any of you read it? I haven't read all the manga books. Only volume 1. *blush* But it's still really good. "Ranko" 00:40, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC) I've read all of the manga books, and yes, it is D.N.Angel technically. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.119.212.144 (talk) 00:52, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Dark to Daisuke

Is it true that Dark turns back into Daisuke when he sees Riku Harada? I have not read the manga, but the anime does not at all imply that Dark has a crush on her. Is this person confused, or is this something the manga clearly covers? NeonGeniuses 21:36, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, this is something made a lot clearer in the Manga. They both change when their 'Love DNA' reacts to seeing their object of affection. Riku reminds him Dark of her Grandmother, Rika. IIRC Dark at one point uses an old photo of Rika to transform back into Daisuke. Shiroi Hane 20:26, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

I have read all of the volumes in the manga. I have seen some of the anime, but couldn't bring myself to watch the rest, for they completey ruined the story. It is true that Dark has a crush on Riku Harada, however in the anime they messed that up too. Although later on in the series (manga) Dark seems to begin warming up to Risa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karina-120 (talkcontribs) 02:03, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Krad's surname

I'm not sure it's true to say that Krad's surname is Hikari, this was never stated in the Anime (although I've only read the US releases so don't know if it comes up later in the manga) and Dark's surname is not Niwa. Shiroi Hane 03:40, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

i'm not sure either i think that techanly dark and krad are hikari but dark can go by niwa and dark accually goes by mousy (lol) but they never tell you krad's last name i call him krad koku-yoko (the black wings) and i call dark dark koky-yoku niwa mousy (lol) but i want to know krads last name i though it would be ysuom (opposite of darks last name like their first names are opposite) but that that wouldn't make sence ~~from Ilovedark 00:15, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Title again

Why is the article named "D.N. Angel" rather than "D.N.Angel"? Shiroi Hane 21:43, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

With/Wiz

While Tokyopop has decided to use 'Wiz' (and to be honest Wiz is my preference), 'With' was written, in English, somewhere in one of the Japanese tankoubon and is the spelling used by ADV in their translation of the anime.

They pronounce it 'With' when it is clearly 'Wiz'. It's like mis-pronouncing Daisuke's name so that you are saying 'I realy like you'. (Actally I do that to make fun of Dai sometimes *kof kof* [I'm a bad person cause of that]) ~~from Ilovedark 00:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Requested move

Name is a play on "D.N.A" thus does not have a space. See also Official Site. Also, few wiki pages link to current spelling.

i support it if it will turn out good (but dark and krad "died"} from Ilovedark 00:21, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I've always thought it was a play on DNA, and I also thought it was a nod to the Niwa family, Daiki Niwa, Daisuke Niwa... Calicore 06:39, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
    • At the time I put the request in place the article was entitled "D.N. Angel", the article has since been moved. Shiroi Hane 08:01, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

I congratulate the creators of the show for such creative title. It has many connotations DNA-Angel (Dark's DNA passed down the Niwa Family) Daisuke/Daiki/Daichi (spoiler)/Dark Niwa Angel (D.N. being the initials for all).

they also have DNA in that cause the dna reaction Ilovedark 00:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Nitpicks

I have several nitpicks on this article, but I don't want to change these things without consulting others first.

Plot Summary:

  • Daisuke doesn't change merely on seeing his crush, only if he goes "doki doki". But I can't think of a good wording for this.

I'd have to completely agree with that, it is only when he's flustered does he change. Also its worth noting that Daisuke can call out Dark at anytime he wishes, without any aid from a picture or seeing his love. Also after he realises that he likes Riku, and hooks up with her, Dark doesn't come out unless he's called, and when Daisuke is in a fair bit of pain (when he brought out the wings). So the Love Genes are probably shut them off when his host finds their true love. Krad probably has Hate Genes to keep with the opposite thing, since he usually comes out whenever he sees his object of 'desire' (Dark). Only Going by Anime here by the way, haven't read the manga.

WHY HAS NOBODY READ THE MANGA?!!!!! --ichliebezuko

  • Dark liking Riku and Risa's grandmother. Isn't this anime only? Up to volume 10, there's nothing said on this matter in the manga.

It's not that heavily in the anime either, mostly just the part during the first episode when Dark sees Risa and is reminded of Rika, and later in the series when its fairly bluntly stated.

It's probably only in the anime. It said the only girl Dark ever loved was Rikka, the Hirada's grandmother and the only reason why Dark liked Risa was that she reminded him of Rikka.

Characters:

  • I don't think it's ever actually said that Hiwatari is adopted. Isn't that merely an assumption?

Not much is known about Satoshi's parents, but in the anime he was adopted by the Chief of Police and his last name was changed to Hiwatari from Hikari.

Yeah, in the Anime, its stated that Satoshi's mother died shortly after childbirth. Nothing about his father is mentioned though. But it is clear that the Chief isn't his biological father.

In the manga, it is very clearly stated he is adopted and he is member of the Hikari family. As a matter of fact, I think his (adoptive) father actually tells him "You are not a Hikari any more." Alinnisawest (talk) 23:24, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Towa-chan can only take on human form during the night? I remember her running around in broad daylight when Daisuke was ill.

In the anime, Towa is able to stay in human form and only reverts to bird form when she is weak, flustered, or in some cases playing with With. I edited her information page a little as well as Mio's description to be more accurate and indepth. Also redid most of Risa and Riku's descriptions and profiles as well. Cleaned up some of the sentences or restructured and added some more information.

Plot Summary:

Daisuke has to be actually flustered or feeling romantic to actually change. It's not merely upon seeing his crush/true love.

As far a Krad does, it's actually believe (though not proven I don't think) that Krad can simply "force" his way out of Satoshi. It's rumored that the reason Krad appears normally around Daisuke, is because Satoshi finds Daisuke to be his friend, and that stimulates the same warm feeling. Though it isn't in the romantic way, of course.

DARK DOES NOT LOVE THE HARADA'S GRANDMOTHER. That is ONLY in the anime, and is NOT in the manga. I'll scream if I see that again.

-laughs- Yeah, I'm kind've obsessive over D.N.Angel. I've practically STUDIED the series. (Manga)

Yes, Satoshi IS adopted. It's clearly stated in the manga. His mother died shortly after birth. Nothing has been said of his biological father so far.

Can you give the quote? From what I remember, it's also possible Hiwatari senior is his biological father, and Satoshi was brought up by his mother's family or something like that. --KagamiNoMiko (talk) 14:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Towa-chan should only be able to resume her "human" form at night. I think her running around like that during the day is only in the anime I believe. Yet another thing they got wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karina-120 (talkcontribs) 02:16, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

No, this was in the manga, the situation I described when I first stated these nitpicks (which was before I created my account). --KagamiNoMiko (talk) 14:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Picture

I have replaced the picture in the infobox with a scan of one of the manga covers. It bothered me that the previous image came from neither the manga or the anime but a (PS2?) game. I couldn't find a suitable frame from the anime which included the logo. I decided to use the cover from volume 3 as it features both Daisuke and Dark. Jojas 21:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

I have changed the infobox picture again from a scan of the manga volume 3 to that of volume 8 as I think this is a better picture Daisuke and Dark. The cover of volume 10 might be better but I don't have access to it yet. Jojas 16:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

How is it shounen ai?

If the anime really is classified as such, shouldn't there be some mention of this relationship? The article only seems to outline boy/girl relationships. So who is involved in the boy/boy relationship, however subtle? Also, if it is really shounen ai, then please add it to the relevant category. --130.127.121.188 19:13, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

It is heavily implied that Hiwatari is in love with Daisuke. That's all the shounen ai there is, though, so the manga certainly should not be placed in this category. --KagamiNoMiko 11:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Even though it is implied that Hiwatari is in love with Daisuke unless it was advertised as being a shonen ai manga as it states in the article I believe that the part of the article where it states that should be removed due to the fact that the manga itself is not shonen ai. If someone puts that back in the article could the cite some kind of reliable source? 67.176.141.168 19:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Its also heavily implied that Hiwatari is in love with Risa. More so with her than with Daisuke I think. I think its more that he was really interested in Daisuke, partly because he's seen what he can do, and partly because he might be affected by Krad affixation with Dark. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.157.87.135 (talk) 14:49, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
If you're referring to the anime, yes, okay. Manga? No. While I'm pretty sure the manga will end with Hiwatari/Risa, right now his feelings are obviously focused on Daisuke. --KagamiNoMiko 22:06, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
It is implied that Hiwatari likes Daiskue, but I think that Hiwatari doesn't get close with Daisuke because of Krad. So I guess that it could be shounen ai or not. 68.110.232.148 16:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh, no! I can't handle the implication of Hiwatari liking Daisuke like that! Ugh! THE ANIME COMPLETELY MESSED UP SATOSHI'S CHARACTER BY THE WAY. In the manga, they don't state whether he likes Risa or not. They hint at it randomly, but realistically, guys, do you REALLY think he'd like her? They have almost nothing in common. They're, like, polar opposites, c'mon!!!

As for the Daisuke thing, they even have an "interview" at the end of one of the mangas, where Satoshi CLEARLY states that he likes girls.

READ THE MANGAS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.41.119.114 (talk) 00:35, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Manga hiatus

Has the manga been on hiatus since 2005? I only know that the last volume released by Tokyopop was volume 11 and it seemed to imply that the series does not go beyond it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EikaKou (talkcontribs) 04:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC).

The manga has been discontinued, but the anime series is much shorter when it comes to plot developments.

The mangaka is reportedly tying up all the loose ends on all her older series that she never finished, so Expect volume 12 in a few years. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.161.122.193 (talk) 01:33, August 21, 2007 (UTC)

Do you guys think they'll remake the anime to be accurate now that the manga is going to be completed? Insightfuljedi (talk) 21:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Argentine

Argentine is only in the manga.

He could not be in the anime. If he was in the anime, then it either wouldn't have ended, they would only have him in there a little bit, or they would have to make up the other part of the story with him in it! The part of the manga with Argentine isn't completed!

Shoujo or Shounen?

Somebody has changed the DN Angel genre to Shoujo. I have changed it back to Shounen. DN Angel is a maho shonen. They are a rarity in manga but they do exist. Is it a shounen?Hikari No Hime 08:29, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

And I have changed it back to shoujo. D.N.Angel appears in Asuka, which is aimed at girls. (Not to mention the story practically screams shoujo.) --KagamiNoMiko 13:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Kagami; Yukiru Sugisaki has stated herself that the manga is aimed at girls and is specifically shoujo. Hell, Yukiru herself is a girl, so why not?

(Gabriel Texidor 02:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC))

I've changed it to be both Shounen and Shoujo, there is indeed a lot of shoujo elements but at the same time there are also things which can be classed as shounen.

The time when when he is Dark it leans more toward the shounen side, but the 'human' plot so to speak is more shoujo. Agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.114.83.18 (talk) 19:17, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

The main storyline is pretty much a shoujo storyline - there isn't all that much action when it follows Dark (compared to other Shounen), and a great emphasis is placed on the romance side - that's what I think. Highwind888 (talk) 02:10, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe that it is a Shoujo, Yukiru Sugisaki said so herself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karina-120 (talkcontribs) 02:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Any manga serialized in a shoujo magazine is a shoujo manga, so both D.N.Angel manga are shoujo (both were serialized in Monthly Asuka, which is a shoujo mag.) Styles and themes are irrelevant because shoujo is not a genre but the target audience, which is set by the publisher. Had you taken the time to read the shoujo article, you would know this. Krad comparably to Yue from cardcaptors - which came first?

The design of Krad can be compared to that of Yue from Cardcaptors Sakura (in appearence not personality). This is because they both have:

  • Large, White, Feathery Wings
  • Fair Hair
  • Long Ponytail Like Hair going down their backs
  • Large Cloak like clothing (which splits in the middle exposings legs)
  • Throwing small projectiles
  • Both have human forms, who are independant from magical forms
  • Both have catlight eyes
  • Both hav counterparts (Yue => Ruby moon, Krad => Dark)

I cant believe ALL of these are just coincidences, so which one came first because they HAD to be copied —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.142.71.174 (talk) 22:15, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Or you have an incredible ability to compare and notice similarities between two fictional characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.84.2.239 (talk) 02:25, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

D.N.Angel came first by one year, but that doesn't mean Yue was stolen or that Krad was becaus it could just be something that both writers came up with. Smileyface 12 91 (talk) 12:06, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

it could be worth noting that their similar? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.3.0.46 (talk) 18:45, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

It's unimportant and original research. --Farix (Talk) 20:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Rika/Riku

"He is the phantom thief who constantly steals art pieces made by the Hikari family. Unlike Daisuke, who likes Risa, Dark fell in love with Rika(Risa's grandmother)."

Last time I checked, she was Risa's OLDER TWIN SISTER. Can someone please change this for me since I have no idea how to edit things here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.114.128.101 (talk) 01:22, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
