Czech name for September (září) does not have anything common with an appraoching rutting. It exactly means "it shines".
--What's your source? I bet it derived from the same stem as "říjen" (october). And the other explanations are also more of a "people's ethymology" than serious. E.g. únor has probably nothing in common with "nora" (den, animal's hole), červen and červenec can be derived not only from "červený" (red) from "červ" (worm) and prosinec is probably from "prase" (pig) because it's the time of hogroasts.--94.113.86.158 (talk) 20:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to add that the folk etymology is something that is quite nice and lacking from the proposed merging page. Thus I don't think it should necessarily be merged into Slavic Calendar.149.23.35.4 (talk) 11:39, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
