Perfect cubes[edit]

I am very confused about the list of perfect cubes. 4 is defintiely not a perfect cube and 122.300 WTF? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Autkm (talkcontribs) 02:09, 23 September 2006 Autkm (UTC)

FTR, this looks like vandalism from User:194.82.224.20, which Autkm fixed in the next edit. -- Beland (talk) 03:52, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

n vs. x[edit]

I disagree with using n as the number. Most people think of n as an integer. However, cubes can be performed on any real number. I think x would be a better choice.PGScooter (talk) 06:46, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As things stand now, "x" is used in the section "In real numbers, other fields, and rings", and "n" is used for the majority of the article, which given the geometrical diagrams and the implication of that section title, does seem to only be discussing integers. -- Beland (talk) 03:55, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Formulas[edit]

I have 2 formulas for representing any positive integer to 3rd degree(same kind progression which you already have in article), could you add this formulas? If you interested i will show you the references. --KolosovP (talk) 21:44, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FTR, KolosovP added these formulas in this edit, citing their own academic paper. This was removed in the next edit as original research. -- Beland (talk) 03:59, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit of a hatnote[edit]

@IAmChaos: Greetings! I'm not seeing an error in the revision with my recent change; am I missing something? Beland (talk) 06:01, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Beland! Your replacement of the 3 with tags caused the page to fall into the error category Category:Missing redirects, which I patrol sometimes. Sorry, I could've been more clear in my original edit summary. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 04:38, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I noticed your other change and I just reinstated that. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 04:41, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@IAmChaos: Thanks for the clarification! I just tagged that as {{not a typo}} so no one will attempt to "fix" that again. -- Beland (talk) 03:40, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
