Don't borrow copyrighted text[edit]

The recently added text seems to have been taken from crowborough.info, and so is probably copyrighted. I have therefore removed it. If the copyright owner allows it to be used on Wikipedia, then please note that here, and restore the text. (A {{copyvio}} notice might have resulted in deletion of the whole article, which is why I'm going about it this way.) --Stemonitis 08:13, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

AMORC[edit]

Where is the source for this claim: "Also home of the English Grand Lodge for Europe and Africa of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC."? --Anon

Can a PO Box qualify as a "home"?

Agree with above -- AMORC entry should be deleted.

Lived in Crowborough for several years and had family there until recently. The English Grand Lodge for Europe and Africa of the Rosicrucian Order was located out in an area called Friars Gate when I used to deliver mail to them as a Royal Mail postman. Whether they're still there I have no idea. Additionally the Finnart House complex -which was once a school- became a Scientologist HQ ...again perhaps temporarily.

Hills of East Sussex[edit]

I also cannot understand why it should be categorised under Hills of East Sussex? Ok the town is at the top of a hill, but there is no mention in the article of it being itself a hill! Please explain Peter Shearan 14:48, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't do it, but Crowborough is notable for being one of the highest points in East Sussex so we should mention that. I'll dig out an O/S map sometime and find a height. Yes, there's one on crowborough.info but we should find our own :-) --Rup 23:55, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is the Crowborough Directory a valid link?[edit]

The site Crowborough Directoryappears to have no value other than to promote an advertising magazine.
Links to be avoided:
1. Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain.
4. Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services.

Comments on article[edit]

The editors of this article should be aware of the Wiki article on How to write about settlements. As it is now it is just a very long set of uncoordinated statements. There is nothing about the History or the Geography (except the bit about the height); in fact the dozen headings that should be here are quite lacking. There isn't even a proper introduction - just one line "C... is the largest inland town in E Sussex ....: and even that isn't particularly striking, since Hailsham had a mere 281 people fewer in 2001. I won't belabour the point, but I am setting out now to get this article into shape Peter Shearan (talk) 14:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
