Closeted/Gay[edit]

The real man may have been gay or closeted but we need a reference for it if so. The only reference provided so far talks only about the depiction in the movie and not about the real actual McMoon. --2601:8C3:8104:D6B0:BD00:FDF:40EC:897 (talk) 20:57, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Weird sentence[edit]

What does "though in that era neither the word nor the identity were such congealed. It might be perhaps more accurate to say that he participated in the subculture of same-sex intimacies of that time, much like his contemporary Cole Porter" mean? Congealed??Royalcourtier (talk) 04:32, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ed (talk) 16:53, 23 August 2017 (UTC)It should be obvious that the word "concealed" was meant and this was merely a simple typo.[reply]

Tone deaf?[edit]

I think it is very wrong to refer to Florence Foster Jenkins as tone deaf. That is very obviously against the Wikipedia thing about objectivity. I have listened to her recordings. I have a vinyl modern transfer. She most certainly was a bad singer. Her singing was horrible, however. She loved music.

'Tone deaf' is just a popular phrase for having poor pitch differentiation or indeed just being an off-key singer. It's rather a sloppy term for an encyclopedia, but it doesn't mean that someone is incapable of appreciating music. --Ef80 (talk) 21:53, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
