Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move from Corrie (disambiguation) to Corrie, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 02:58, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article had been about the geological feature, or a redirect to Cirque, but the most common use of this word is apparently for Coronation Street. Since a disambiguation page already exists, that would probably be the best solution. —The way, the truth, and the light 15:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While it may be true that the more, er…, populist branches of the Internet use "corrie" to mean Coronation Street, academia takes a rather different approach. Google Scholar returns many results for "corrie", almost all of which seem to be the geological form. Some hits are for Rachel Corrie or Corrie ten Boom; none of them is about Coronation Street. We are supposed to follow the examples of reputable sources, all of which, I'm sure, consider "corrie" to be nothing other than a geological term. A hatlink at cirque should be enough to point soap fans in the right direction. --Stemonitis 12:23, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had redirected it to Cirque, when another user changed it to Coronation Street; I accepted it at the time because I didn't know there was a disambiguation page. I put a hatlink at Coronation Street because of this.
When a reader types 'corrie', is he looking for the geologic feature, the soap opera, or someone named 'Corrie'? I don't know, that's what disambiguation pages are for. The way, the truth, and the light 15:13, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected Corrie to the disambiguation page; that has now been the case for several days. The way, the truth, and the light 21:46, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the page has been moved, please contribute to cleaning up the incoming ambiguous links by piping and retargeting them to the correct articles. Thank you! Dekimasuよ! 03:04, 4 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]
