Warning! error![edit]

In the Production section it states:

Coconut plantations are generally spaced 9 meters apart, allowing a density of 100-160 coconut trees per ha. A standard tree bears around 50-80 nuts a year, and avarage earnings in Vanuatu (1999) were $USD 0,20 per kg (one kg equals 8 nuts). [1]This would mean that some 1600 USD can be earned per ha per year.

This does not match:

(80 nuts)/(8 nuts/kg) = 10 kg of copra per year per tree

10 kg x 160 trees/ha = 1600 kg of copra per year per ha

1600 kg x 0.20 $ = 320 $/(year ha) far less than the 1600 $ stated in the article

Derivation of the word[edit]

See [1]. It seems impossible to support any view of the derivation of the word, so lets just ignore it. Roundtheworld (talk) 14:49, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Copra. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Aflatoxins do not grow[edit]

Aflatoxins are the result of mold growth. If we could find out which molds grow in copra, it's better to put that in than to allow the current sentence to stand. Sorry for not logging in, it's been a while. /piotrr

Bulk Shipping[edit]

In my years as crew on a freighter, we often loaded copra (in the Far East) in bulk. The smell was horrible, and attracted flying insects and bugs. JohnClarknew (talk) 05:31, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
