Color[edit]

In every picture and video I saw of this bird (I followed the external link too), it looks grey to me. I see no mention of grey in this article though. Is the bird really brown, and if so, are these pictures really of a Collared Pratincole? (Maybe it is a bird that has different feathers in the summer vs. winter? Or maybe the male and female look a lot different?) I am not any bird expert, I have just been reading about birds today, and noticed this, and thought I would ask if anyone knows. It would be nice to make the article a bit clearer too. Thanks. Fallendarling (talk) 02:27, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

good point. I always think of them as brown, and they definitely look browner in flight, but it is a greyish brown colour. If I remember, I'll try to improve the description, but very busy at present Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:43, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other names[edit]

Also called "Redwinged Pratincole" (Newman's Birds of Southern Africa, Robert's Birds of Southern Africa), and "Red-Winged Pratincole" (Biodiversity Explorer, http://www.biodiversityexplorer.org/birds/glareolidae/glareola_pratincola.htm). The bird has rufous underwing plumage in the "armpit" area, the full length of the humerus. I have requested permission from the above website for the photos there to be used to illustrate this point. BThomascall (talk) 13:34, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
