Stephen Colbert[edit]

Is there any reason why Stephen Colbert is the first person listed despite having a name that begins with the letter 'S' other than some loyal Colbert Report viewer editing the page? I am a big fan of the show but there is no reason why Stephen Colbert should be placed ahead of more historically important people such as Jean-Baptist Colbert. --TheAznSensation 06:35, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen is the most relevent Colbert as of now. Judging by Google trends, more people are looking for Stephen than Jean-Baptist. - Kookykman|(t)e 15:26, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
However, this is an encyclopaedia... Google trends is hardly an argument. Alphabetical list should work for everybody.merry (really) 16:20, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I back this up. I cant remember any other surname pages where names arent in alphabetical order. Hornplease 08:30, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, this should be alphabetical Whereizben 16:38, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, it shouldn't. Cf. MOS:DABORDER.
If Stephen is considered unimportant, this page should be moved to Colbert (disambiguation) and Colbert should redirect directly to Jean-Baptiste Colbert. If Stephen is important enough not to do that (he is, for now), then he goes at the top of the page per WP:DAB and MOS:DABORDER. Sorry to break up the WP:LOCALCONSENSUS, but Google Trends are an argument for establishing WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and Wikipedia has no dignity to stand on. At Google Books, the French Colbert doesn't show up until #20 or so; at French Google, he doesn't show up until #10. That said, JB's obviously the more important historical figure: Vanilla Google search numbers are meaningless but the much more accurate Google scholar shows 5k hits for the French guy + a numismatist versus 4k for the comedian + various doctors and researchers who share his name. French Google in French only lists JB. — LlywelynII 23:04, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate listing of Stephen Colbert[edit]

I noticed that The Colbert Report and Stephen Colbert are listed twice, is there a reason that it should be duplicated? I am not sure what might be done, but think maybe it should be listed so that The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert and Stephen Colbert (character) are listed all together, and once. Done. — LlywelynII 23:27, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
