I have made a large edit to this page. I am in an immunology course and our project was to pick a topic in immunology and help edit the page. Clonal deletion is the topic I choose. Below I have gone over the changes I have made to this page. I edited this article in my sandbox and transfered it over into the live article bit by bit so it you don't agree with a section you can easily revert it.

Introduction: I simplified the introduction, and added a reference

Discovery: The original version of this article had discovery and function grouped together under one heading. When in reality the way the article was laid out, it contained one singular sentence about the discovery and the rest talked about function (more like mechanisms). So, I decided to research into the discovery of clonal deletion. I added a lot of information about how burnet was able to make his claim about clonal deletion. During my research I never can across a particular "experiment" that Burnet did to help him come to this conclusion. What I found from multiple sources was that in fact is was a collaboration of many findings that helped Burnet hypothesize clonal deletion. I added a lot of information here and also a lot of references to back up the information.

Function: I decided to make function its own heading. I don't think function should be grouped together with discovery. The original function section started to slightly get into more of a locations and mechanisms point of view toward the end. It did not talk anything about how B and T cells develop their unique receptors, which is important for the reader to understand if they do not have a background in immunology. I added references to this section and kept the neat figure that a previous editor had added.

Location and mechanism: I decided to added mechanism to this section because the location and mechanism somewhat go hand in hand. There was a lot of overlay between the function section and location section in the original article. I also decided to make the heading B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes in order to stay in agreement with how they have been referred to in the rest of the article to make it easier for the reader. I added references to the B lymphocyte section and a few references as well. The T cell area of the original article was very lacking. The way of selection for T lymphocytes was written in a way that made it sound like they under went the same selection and presented the same thing in both the thymic medulla and the cortex, which is not true. With this article, I plan on explaining laying the groundwork for clonal deletion. This would include outlining the location and purpose of clonal deletion, as well as listing some current applications for organ transplantation. Further, this article will link together current wikipedia articles that are related in biology but currently unrelated on Wikipedia. An example of this is AIRE and negative selection.
